pie2
Christ will make his second coming (assumingly not veiled or hidden), and his followers will be WITH him, returning TO earth. Wait, what...believers have to come back?!
mercy
Trivia: According to Revelation, who is the person(s) that will send the "strong delusion" upon the world during the tribulation, causing many to "believe a lie"? a) Satan b) The Antichrist c) The Beast d) Fallen Angels e) God e............. Author M30USA
Wait, what...believers have to come back?! Yep, undeniably so. It's a fact. No interpretation here. Christ will come, rapture believers, then who knows where he will go. But, yes, at the second coming of Christ, it says in the Scriptures that the "saints" will be with him, along with angels. (This is baffling, because right here we have saints and angels in the same context and event, implying that angels are physical beings, eh?) And the REASON we will "come back" is to judge the nations with Christ.
mercy
By the way, I am no longer going to use the term UFO. It has too many connotations and people immediately read things into it that I (and others) never intend. There is a new term, UAP, which means Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon. By definition, the "pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night" in the Exodus is undeniably a UAP. But I'll still know you're talking about UFO's.
Author M30USA
But I'll still know you're talking about UFO's. UAPs (Gotta filter out all these people who think I'm talking about "little green men" and Hollywood entertainment/misinformation.)
mercy
UAPs (Gotta filter out all these people who think I'm talking about "little green men" and Hollywood entertainment/misinformation.) Oh I thought they were purple people eaters.
Author M30USA
Oh I thought they were purple people eaters. LOL, maybe. But if you saw one you wouldn't even turn your head or recognize them. Just like nobody turned their heads or recognized the angels in Sodom and Gomorrah.
mercy
LOL, maybe. But if you saw one you wouldn't even turn your head or recognize them. Just like nobody turned their heads or recognized the angels in Sodom and Gomorrah. I can't remember the series I read, it was fiction (really good books) but it talked about angels seeing demons for what they really looked like, the monsters they are and we saw them as beautiful women and handsome men. Wish I could remember what those books were called.
Author M30USA
Yeah, because that's why we think you're talking out your back passage when you go around shouting "ANGELS RIDE IN UFOS!!!! OMG IM SERIOUS DUDE! THE BIBLE SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT LIGHTS AND CHARIOTS, SO THAT MUST MEAN UFO! UNDENIABLE LOL!!!" It's all Hollywood's fault. If I saw a thread called "For Atheists Only", I wouldn't post there. The assumption on this thread is that we ALREADY believe Scripture before the debate begins. Please get a life. TheFinalWord
If you saw Jesus in Galilee, walking around in an ordinary robe, sandals, and obviously appearing to be a normal person, what would YOU think about him? It's so easy to have the advantage of Scripture telling us, outright, who he is. But people in his time didn't have that. If they were lucky, they might have known a scribe or religious leader who had the privelage of knowing the Scriptures--but even most of THOSE people didn't know who he was either! How would you know who he is? Would you really believe he is God in human flesh? I mean just stop and think about that for a second: the person/being who literally created the universe...walking, breathing, and talking right in front of you. And even more unbelievable than that is how he didn't make a grand opera of himself, but just walked around humbly. I begin to think about this and I seriously get so overwhelmed that I feel like I wanna start going crazy and beating my chest, lol, just like the Rabbi leader did when Jesus told him who he was. This guy starts tearing off his robe and starts raging, lol. I mean, seriously, we have our dusty Bibles and we kind of lose the reality of what Jesus' physical appearance on earth means. So, in all honesty, answer the question. Do you really think you would have correctly identified Jesus as God in human flesh? My answer: I'm pretty sure I would NOT have (unless God opened my eyes to the fact). Good question! Not entirely sure. Even if I had the knowledge, I don't think I would have walked in the power of God. Even His disciples were scattered when he was arrested. We need the Holy Spirit to help us, even if we do believe. We don't have the strength in ourselves. What cracks me up is how one day Peter was denying Christ, then a short time later he is preaching boldly and converting thousands. That wasn't human strength. Kind of in a hurry now. Will try to respond more in-depth later
Author M30USA
And I don't. But when you use one of these threads to take a very thinly veiled snipe at me, I'm damned well within my rights to respond. Get tested for paranoia.

My favorite character display in the Bible? Moses smashing the Ten Commandment tablets. I love it!

I love how Ehud says "I have a message from the Lord" as King Eglon was having a bowel movement :lmao: " Again the Israelites cried out to the Lord, and he gave them a deliverer—Ehud, a left-handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite. The Israelites sent him with tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Ehud had made a double-edged sword about a cubit long, which he strapped to his right thigh under his clothing. He presented the tribute to Eglon king of Moab, who was a very fat man. Ehud then approached him while he was sitting alone in the upper room of his palace and said, “I have a message from God for you.” As the king rose from his seat, Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king’s belly. Even the handle sank in after the blade, and his bowels discharged. Ehud did not pull the sword out, and the fat closed in over it. Then Ehud went out to the porch; he shut the doors of the upper room behind him and locked them."

TheFinalWord
That has got to be the NASTIEST paragraph in the whole Bible! It's up there! I always thought Herodias' daughter requesting the head of John the Baptist was the nastiest.

Yea, don't even get me started on that. This is an example of where the "family first" philosophy will lead to some pretty heinous things sometimes. Oh, look how much he LOVED his daughter! Isn't that such dedicated, loyal love? Wow!

This is an example of where the "family first" philosophy will lead to some pretty heinous things sometimes. Oh, look how much he LOVED his daughter! Isn't that such dedicated, loyal love? Wow! Yeah, Herod was a coward. He did it b/c of peer pressure, basically. Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted and had John beheaded in the prison. His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother. John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus. Suffice it to say that this passage now REALLY hits home with me--considering the specifics of what I've experienced recently. I can't tell you how much I know ALL ABOUT THIS.

Will try to respond more in-depth later I think that is so amazing, how God's Holy Spirit transformed Peter from being a simple, hot-headed fisherman to being a man telling thousands of people about Jesus. It's also amazing how God transformed Paul, (Saul) from being a zealous Pharisee who was persecuting Christians to actually caring for Gentiles and telling them about Jesus! That's one of the great ironies in the world. I do think God has a sense of humor and a strong sense of irony.
