Need advice about pedophilia.

Recommended Posts

I'm a pedophile who is horrified at the thought of hurting a child, and I'm worried about maintaining self-control. As far as molesting children, I don't have a self-control problem, but there are some days when I have a great deal of difficulty fighting the urge to try to find child porn. Does anyone have any advice to offer in resisting these urges?

Go to your local police dept and get registered as a sex offender.

Prevention is key and they will help.

Are you currently seeking therapy?

Hi Almavida,

Clearly when there's an issue with controlling urges, it is important that a person seek out the assistance of individuals and organizations with the training and knowledge necessary to provide effective means of dealing with those compulsions. I've closed this thread to further posting and ask that you please take the advice posted here already and get in touch with people that are able understand what you're going through and provide intervention and treatment as is necessary to help you overcome your feelings and move beyond them.

I applaud you for your courage in making an effort to get assistance and encourage you to carry that forward and make sure you get in touch with qualified mental health professionals. Your local police department, hospital, and emergency number will have contact information for groups and centers in your area that are equipped to provide services and refer you to appropriate assistance. These services will be provided to you at no cost or on a sliding scale fee structure appropriate with what you can afford at this time. Take pride in yourself for reaching out before this becomes a bigger problem for you.

Should you be currently in crisis, please dial your emergency number, such as "911" for immediate assistance and intervention. Most communities will have a team of trained response unit available to come to you and assist you further.

Best wishes,

Paul
