Well, I'm new to the site and in the middle of a weight loss program so I figured I'd introduce myself...

 

45yo guy who was right at 420lbs about 18 months ago. After my wife left me for a guy at work, I decided it was time for me to focus on ME and get my life together.

 

I've been doing the Weight Watchers Points+ program and have lost 100lbs over this time frame. I've also started hiking/walking at least 15 miles a week and am also starting the Couch25k program. Today I weighed in and I was down to 312.6. I'm hoping to be in the 200s by New Years!

 

I started cooking a lot for myself, don't really go out for meals, and now substitute a green smoothie for Breakfast. It's a concoction I made up and tweaked until it was a taste I could tolerate. LOL

 

14gr Cacao Powder

14gr Flax Seen

14gr Goji Berries

1 banana

1 stick cinnamon

1 tbsp Turmeric

1 cube frozen wheatgrass juice

2c Unsweetened Almond Milk

1c frozen strawberries

1c frozen berry mix

1c fresh cranberries

56g spinach

28g kale

 

It makes about 3c (enough to fill my large Starbucks cold cup and then some) so I nurse the smoothie from around 0730-0900 and that keeps my hunger in-check until around 1200. I'll have a small portion then, a snack around 1500, some fruit around 1700, and dinner around 1900. I also drink about a gallon of water a day.

 

For cardio, I walk/jog at least a mile a day and on Fridays I walk the Suwanee Creek Greenway for 7 miles. Then Saturday or Sunday, I hike the Cherokee Trail for 6.5 miles around Stone Mountain. When I first started I had to take 4-5 rest stops on the trail, but now I make one stop about 2/3 of the way around to have a quick power-up snack (tuna or turkey sandwich) and then finish it off.

 

Good to see others on the board also losing weight! I'd NEVER EVER go back to the way I was 18mos ago. When I get to my target weight, I'm purchasing a custom tailored Armani suit that is going to cost me about $3500. THAT will be my incentive to not gain the weight back! :)
