chocolatecupcake
Hey everyone, Ive been dealing with a general anxiety disorder since several months ago and have about for not even a week been taking Effexor XR (2 37.5 pills daily/ every morning) @ 75 mg; ive been experiencing since the past 2 nights these night sweats that wake me up (i wake up and only my back will be covered in a layer of cold sweat) and have been dealing with on and off facial and back flushing, sweating palms and excessive yawning and fatigue (especially when outside during my runs). Are these common symptoms people get when they take the Effexor 75 mg or should i be worried about something else? Facial flushing can mean many things, some of which can be really serious, same with night sweats.. Any other Effexor takers around here that can provide me with some info about the side effects? Much appreciation
River Rain
Well, if they just began as you started taking it, it's probably more than a coincidence. I was on Effexor XR for about 8 months, my main problem was constant headaches. I didn't have any of those symptoms, but we all react differently to pharmas. Why not call your pharmacist for some information?
pinkie
I was on that same dose once (beginners dose) and yes, I had similar side effects. It's all in the packaging from the pharmacist. You can also google the drug and find out all kinds of info and message boards of other people who are taking it. The side effects could last anywhere from a couple weeks to about a month while your body tries to adjust. Hang in there, hope you feel better soon!
skydiveaddict
Any other Effexor takers around here that can provide me with some info about the side effects? Much appreciation I was on that crap for awhile, and had similar side effects. Doc switched me to ativan and it was not only more effective, but had no side effects. perhaps you might discuss that with your doc.
Forever Learning
I take 5 mg Celexa (Citalopram) and I had night sweats and headaches the first 2 weeks. I had to start out at 2mg and work my way up to 10 mg, then I tapered back down to find the lowest dose I could take and still remain depression free. I seem to recall the side effects were the worst the first week, and particularly the first 4 days. After 2 weeks, things were finally better. Drink lots of water, and start with a low dose and work up. Same deal for getting off the medicine, best to taper off over a few weeks. All the best to you.
