Teenlove
Loosing weight, Two questions tho Is it true that if ur young its easier to loose weight, cause ur fat isnt hardened cause ur not an adult yet? 2- I think from now on, this will be my daily meat schedule : A Chicken ceaser salad, A diet coke (or cokes), Water, And if starving a fruit, if i keep this up for a month or two, will i see HUGE results? cause im aiming to loose down 30 kilos (around 70 pounds)
honey2005
For your first question, I have heard it's easier to lose weight when you're younger, but I don't know if it's cause you're fat hardens as you get older. I've heard it's cause your metabolism slows down and you burn fat at a slower rate. For the second question, if only eat a chicken ceasar salad, a diet coke and water, you're body is gonna start buring even slower because it will think it's starving. If you want to lose weight you have eat, just not as much as usual. You need to burn more calories than you take in. For example, when you have your chicken ceasar salad, get fat free dressing which will only have like 30 calories, compared to normal dressing which has about 100. That way you will have 70 more calories to use else where. I read that it's easier to diet if you eat several small means over the span of the day, and don't eat after 6pm (or eat light) because your body starts to burn fat slower then. Drink LOTS of water, it helps cut back on cravings and is really good for your body. When you're get a craving for something but you don't want to eat, ice is always a good substitute, the chewing and swallowing motion makes your body feel like it's eating, and your body uses like 23 (I think) calories a day to heat the water you take in to body temperature. So the colder the water the better. You need to take in more than just a ceasar salad. Try eating a plain salad or two (those are only like 50 calories with fat free dressing), apples (65 calories, but it burns just about that many to eat the apple), rice cakes, lean turkey, chicken, fish, egg whites, etc. Cut out the mayonaise and cheese. Keep the milk, though, cause it helps you lose weight. I've also read that a glass of tea a day helps you burn more fat, also. And make sure that you only drink soda's that are diet. You save 120 calories or so by just doing that. You also need to try and burn more calories than you take in. That could mean just taking the stairs instead of the elevator when you go somewhere, volunteering to do more chores at home. I have a site that tells you how many calories you burn when you do stuff at home, like washing dishes, mopping, even sleeping. It's great. I read other things that help your metabolism speed up, like walking every other day, being certain to eat breakfast (not a lot though, like cut out the bacon and the egg yolks). http://www.healthstatus.com/cbc.html Here's that website that counts the calories you burn. You can also see your ideal weight and stuff, but as long as you feel good about yourself, that's all that matters. I'm dieting right now too, so if you want to keep updated about your progress, I will do the same:D And encouragement is great, too.
caz_cheer_jenn
70 pounds in one or two months is NOT HEALTHY, nor is it a reasonable goal. If you think you are going to get rid of that much weight in that little amount of time, you will just be disappointed because it is very unlikely that it will happen. Even with diet and exercise, it is not healthy to lose more than about 4 pounds a week, which puts you at 16 pounds a month. Make more reasonable goals and you will be more likely to stick with your routine. Don't expect to lose 70 pounds in any less than 5 or 6 months.
Author Teenlove
Not true, my friend lost round 25 pounds in 4 days, just by jogging and eating salad, oh yeah and remember, im not fat just overweight
honey2005
25 lbs in 4 days doesn't sound very healthy. The best I've heard of was someone losing 14 lbs in 7 days, and I think that was pretty hard to keep off. You can't live on salad alone, it's very unhealthy. Just cut calories and you'll start to see the weight go.
caz_cheer_jenn
Exactly, it's all about being HEALTHY about it. If someone loses 25 pounds in one week, I would venture to say that it would be VERY hard to keep it off. Your body will strive to get back to a "homeostasis" of sorts....a drastic change like that will just make the body fight harder to stablize itself again. Please, please, please try to make reasonable goals that are HEALTHY. That's the best way to keep it off. Don't expect it to happen overnight or without working for it. And, as someone posted earlier, eating nothing but salad is not good for you either. The more you try to starve yourself, the slower your body will metabolize the food...if it thinks that it is starving, it will try to slow the process as much as possible. That's why experts say you should eat small, healthy, balanced meals 5 or 6 times a day. More like snacks than huge meals.
cheekiemonkie21
My friends at work and I are all on a diet and what we've founf that works best is to eat about 6 low calorie meals/ snacks a day, 3 snacks under a hundred calories and all the meals should add up to between1200-1500 calories per day, and exercising 6 days a week. Eating more small meals during the day keeps your metabolism up which makes your body burn fat. If you are really hungry all day when you do eat you will a) probably eat way too much and b) your body will store all the fat becuase it thinks you are starving. We also dont drink any sodas and if we do they have to be diet and only once a day. My boss has lost 10 pounds this month and she loves the diet cuz we can eat all day long whatever we want within the calorie restriction.
DinNJ
It's all about the calorie intake. There are a billion websites that will calculate the amount of calories one needs to begin to lose weight. Basically, if the average person needs 2200 calories to maintain a certain body weight, then 1200-1600 will be what they need to start losing. 1-2 lbs per week is a healthy and logical goal. Discipline is the most important part... no cheating. With regular exercise to help burn the fat.
Pretty Kitty
Apparently that is not the truth because I am 29 and weighed 280 pounds. I have lost 140 pounds in one year from diet & exercise alone. So it just depends on the ~WILL~ of the person and how much they desire to make a change in themselves. DinNJ
Ok, so you lost 2.5 lbs per week, and not 2 lbs. Congrats. And discipline is the same as a persons ~will~ ... so what's not apparently true?
sophia34
Teen, If you kept up that regimen for a month or two, yes, you'd probably lose a lot of weight. But you've got to look ahead to after that month or two is over....are you going to continue to survive on ceasar salads, diet cokes, water, and fruit? I don't think you would--I believe you'd revert right back to your old habits (no one can eat ceasar salad for two months and not be thoroughly sick of it), and you'd see every pound come right back on--and probably a few more. Lose the weight slowly--cut back about 300-400 calories day and exercise off about 300-400 calories on most days. That will give you a nice, steady 1-to-2 lb. weight loss per week. In the beginning, you'll probably see a 3-to-4 lb. per week weight loss, which will then level off to the lower level. Is this quick? No. But after six months, you'll have lost your 70 pounds AND you'll have developed an eating and exercise plan that you can actually stick with for life, so it will STAY off. Weight loss is really only any good when you can maintain it for the long term--and you won't do that with any starvation diet.

You forgot to mention that you had weight loss surgery. Where I know that weight loss surgery is no walk in the park, it does help a person lose super fast. Keep up the good work.
