Sun Devil
I decided to make my body more muscular. I am wondering if having a muscular body can make a short guy more attractive? I do not plan on overdoing it, just enough to be toned
Under The Radar
Generally speaking most women will find "tone" on a man to be attractive because, at the very least, it implies good health. As far as the "jacked" look or a significant amount of musculature being attractive, it will vary from woman to woman. Some women will find it repulsive and others will seek it out.
Treasa
I don't know. Women can smell insecurity just like men can. If a guy is doing it to cover up an insecurity, like his height, then it won't matter what he looks like. At least, not to me, and I'm a woman.
Author Sun Devil
I am not doing this to cover up an insecurity. I am trying to get healthier. I am just curious if having a toned body is more attractive

I am just curious if having a toned body is more attractive I think so. I work out to look fit and good in public...BUT confidence and being a good person is what matters most...looking cut helps too
Treasa
If you weren't worried about it, you wouldn't care what others think. You'd just go to the gym because YOU want to. But in general, yes, toned is more physically attractive than not toned.

SmileFace
The wider you get the shorter you look. Lol... Haha
dasein
Actually, if taller than say 5'5" the broader you get, the taller you look. Now if a guy is extremely short, not just below average height, bulk could give an unwanted "mighty mouse" look. But some women dig that look.
jakoye
I decided to make my body more muscular. I am wondering if having a muscular body can make a short guy more attractive? Yes. But making your wallet more muscular will make you more attractive than bigger muscles!

darkmoon
i fell in love with a short muscly guy, he was a good laugh - and rugged it was his shoulders and biceps, not too much tricep, would have been too much muscly arm i don't find the advertising world's idea of smooth square bodies very nice, a separate thread for that, what ppl like rugged shoulders look fine overdeveloped legs would be an uncomforable screw for me cuz i'm short could not comfortably open my legs and flail around, they're just not long enough, and also the guy's bulky legs get in the way yes i fell in love with a short muscly guy Edited November 29, 2012 by darkmoon
MrCastle
I'm short and I wouldn't exactly say I'm toned. My arms certainly, because I lift from time to time, as far as chest, stomach, etc. I'm all flat. No muscle tone. In order to gain muscle and shape it, you have to eat more. And once you actually have the muscle, you tend to eat more because muscles burn calories faster, so you have to eat more because the muscles demand it. I don't look good at all with those extra pounds on my face. For someone short, a gain in 8-10 pounds is significant. You can't see it on a taller person but definitely someone shorter. 10 pounds looks like 15. I don't like having a round face and prefer the more narrow, pointed chin I have when I hover around 142-145 lbs. I start getting round at 155 and I'm not a fan. Everyone's body is different. I like the skinny look.

I thought you were a bodybuilder like me. heh..I need to read more posts. rounder face? was it because your bodyfat went up with the bulking? when I gained weight, I didnt get a rounder face. I had one before. now I have a much wider jaw line. but also a very chiseled chin and muscular neck. there is a distinct step from the jaw to the neck..they dont just blend in and look bigger. op-I got into bodybuilder for all the reasons men do it. I wanted to be healthy, I wanted to have more confidence, I wanted to feel good, but also I did it to look good and attract more woman. if you do it only to attract woman then ok..I have a friend at work that does it because of that and he sleeps with tons of chicks. night after night. he always comes to work worn out but with a smile. as far as amount of muscle goes, the more I gain the more I attract. im sure there will be a limit though some time. but till I get there will be some time. and as far as I know it will take you a good long time to get nicely sized. just do it. im not going to advise you on how to do it. there's tons of stuff to read on the net. and yes, being really muscular will make you look shorter but only when you start getting big. so I wouldnt worry about too much. im tallish 6'1" and the bigger I get the more impressive and taller I look actually. the v taper looks nicer on a tall person because the swoop of the lats comes down half of the torso compared to shorter guys where it looks like a flying squirrel which connects down. deal with what you have and maximize that. cheers. USMCHokie
Building muscle to a reasonable degree will make a guy of any height more attractive. Though excessive amounts on a shorter guy will make them look shorter, unbalanced, and more pumpkin shaped.
CptObvious
Yes, and being shorter just means you can build better arms than any of the 6"4+ guys can.

Women like them too. nonsense. different woman like different parts more so. some woman like shoulders, some chest, some back, and some even legs. but for a nice physique you need to work on everything, including legs. how horrible it looks when a guy has a nice upper body and skinny legs. and sometimes they lack in the buttocks area as well. working legs (squats/deadlists/presses) gives you a nice rock hard ass. work the whole body. work on symmetry. otherwise you'll look like a freak. and thats not being complimentary Moustafa Ismail's real-life Popeye arms
robaday
Anyone into swimming at all? Just started 6 months ago and have gone from being poor at it, to doing a km a day.....I didnt do it to build muscle just to do some regular exercise (am lazy). Havent got "bigger" as such, but my body has changed rapidly, never had pecs before, but Ive started to get them (Im a skinny build), it seems the best all round workout Ive found - wont get you bigger but seriously Im so much more toned than I was. GirlontheLam
I'd say yes. I find short and buff more appealing than short and skinny. I think taller guys have more flexibility on levels of "acceptable" skinny.
jcrew11
If you want to meet women, you will be better off joining a Yoga class at the gym. It will probably make you look slimmer or defined.

They don't even look like real muscles.

I do not plan on overdoing it, just enough to be toned I knew a wealthy 5'4" guy who worked hard to get a toned "swimmer's body". He'd pick up women like crazy, but never made it to RL. Most of it was his narcissistic attitude though. Not his height. I personally think it can't hurt...plus it'll keep you healthy in life.
