LoyalGirl
My daughter is 8 years old. She still wets her pants during the day while she is awake on a daily basis. She wears an adult incontinence pad during the day. She is a wonderful kid by all other measures. I have asked her on numerous occasions if anyone has touched her inappropriately because the incontinence has been medically exhaustively explored to no avail. I have taken her to a child psychologist also and still the problem is baffling. As to our conversations: I have been specific, and I have assured her over and over that I will believe what she says, that she would not get "in trouble..." Etc... My husband was sexually abused by his brother growing up. This makes me nervous about the possibility that he could be touching her, simply due to the wetting and the fact of my husband's sexual abuse. There are no other signs as far as I can tell. She is not afraid of her father, she does not act out sexually, etc... I am looking for experienced opinions. What do you think?
turnera
That's a tough one. Honestly, people may hate me for this, but I would set up a camera in her bedroom and not tell anyone. At least for a few months.
turnera
Have you researched whether it's just a matter of aging at a different rate?
pteromom
My niece went in her pants until she was 13. She is now grown and we found out she was raped when she was 7. She never told anyone. I would not discount the possibility, especially if your gut is telling you something. A camera or even a voice recorder in your daughter's room will tell you if anything is going on. LadyGrey
Have you taken her to a medical doctor to find out is there is some medical reason for this? If not, you should do that pronto to rule anything physical out.
