Experiences with Tony Horton's workout program whose name I can't mention

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody, sorry about the weird thread title. I previously posted the same question with the name of the program in the title (Hint -- its name is "Pee" "Ninety" "X"), but for some reason I was never able to access the thread. I notice another poster started a thread on the same subject, which I wasn't able to access either and which got no replies either. Weird, because I'm sure some of the many LS users have tried the program.

Anyway, I started it in early October. It's definitely a solid workout. And to be honest, I've had some interruptions that have negatively impacted its effectiveness, no doubt. I'm not following the diet plan, though I have been making considerable effort to eat more healthy (though again with a few backslides -- I still drink periodically, e.g.). I stopped it about two weeks ago and haven't been very motivated to start up again, so rather than pushing it right now, I'm aiming to make it a New Years thing.

I'm 40, 6'1", currently 225 lbs. Some belly fat I'd like to get rid of for sure, and I'd like to be stronger, thinner, more flexible, and in better cardiovascular health. So this program seems ideal; when I was doing it earlier in the fall, I noticed my gut shrinking a bit.

Can anybody else share some stories about their experiences (positive or negative) using this program?

Thanks everybody...

Sorry. Never heard of it. I prefer the Tim Horton workout program. :D

Seriously, I lost forty pounds over the past year, and it was not from working out. It was from reducing my intake of calories. I do work out, but it comes down to matching the amount of calories eaten to the amount burned.

Any good workout program will work as long as you are dedicated to it. And no program will work if it doesn't fit your life style.

Not to tell you what to do, but if I were you, then I would not wait until the first of the year. You will simply have more weight to lose and less muscle size.

Start now even if it is less than it will be in a few weeks.

Barring injury, why wait for New Years to get back on the bandwagon?

As far as the aforementioned program, I've never used it as my singular training program (since it doesn't fit my goals), but I think it does a fine job of providing your average person with a well rounded workout. I've used certain parts in the past (Plyo X, Cardio X, Yoga X) for conditioning purposes and found them to be effective for that purpose.

If your goal is to maximize peak strength and/or hypertrophy, it's not the direction you want to take. However, if you want to develop a decent level of "active fitness", I think it's an acceptable route. As far as those shredded up guys and gals they use in their advertisements, that is most directly related to their diets (and possibly heavy supplementation + photo manipulation).

Fitness advertising is notorious for being misleading, so don't get sucked in by anyone's koolaide.

Oh, not to worry, I'm not going to go without exercise between now and New Years, or revert to unhealthy eating. Just wondering about people's experiences with the program.
