I have been having palpitations, chest pain, fatigue, and dizziness.

And recently back pain (woke up me up in the middle of the night) and upper left leg pain.

I already had an appointment with my primary care doctor; did an ultrasound of thyroid and heart and also wore a holter monitor (basically 24 hour ekg) and they called me to tell me my holter monitor was abnormal. I have an appt this Thursday to see what is wrong.

But my chest pain persists and I'm very fatigued and now I have this leg pain.

I'm worried. I'm 23 years old and recently very stressed in life.

Any one else have weird symptoms like this?

I'm sorry that you're going through this, and all the stress/anxiety that's causing you. Please do update once you've had your appointment.

I can't begin to guess what it is, but just know that the Dr's you'll be seeing will take of you.

If you still feel unwell, do call 911 or ask someone in your household to take you to the ER.

It is good that you are seeing a doctor. It sounds like he/she is going to investigate this until a solution is found.

Possible causes are of course your heart. It could be atrial fibrillation, heart rhythm disorder, or something similar. It could be connected to something else such as even your thyroid or anemia. These should be "easily" solved.

But it could also be totally related to the stress. Generalized Anxiety Disorder will reflect symptoms mocking heart disease.

Keep us updated. Hopefully it will be something minor that can be fixed.

It was noted in my heart monitor that during rest my heart rate went up to 167 BPM. Most of the time my heart rate was over 120BPM.

Right now it is diagnosed as "supraventriculartachycardia". Basically, just a fast heart rate.

I work in an office of 12 cardiologists so my primary care doctor referred me to an Electrophysiologist, which is a Cardiologist who specializes in cardiac arrhythmia's, such as AFIB, atrial flutter and pacemakers. I see him this Friday to discuss my symptoms. As far as my ultrasounds went (of heart and thyroid) everything was normal!

Today I vomited for no reason, out of nowhere and it was accompanied by palpitations. I have no idea what is going on, but I will get to the bottom of this!

I'll keep you updated!

It really sounds like stress related heart rhythm issues to me. I have anxiety and depression and a heart rhythm disorder, and when my mental health issues flare, so does the irregular heart rate.

Do your best to relax and find something to pass the time that you enjoy. I did not see if you said you have been limited in physical activity, but even if you haven't, doing something easy but fun (Yoga, or pilates) might help. With tachycardia, you don't want to overly elevate your heart rate.

As a previous poster also stated, eat right. It is tempting to eat crap when you are stressed, but make sure you are drinking lots of water (limit caffiene if you drink it) and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, or other drugs as well. I know they say red wine is good for the heart, but my cardiologist said that for people with heart rate issues you really want to steer clear of anything with alcohol.

Best of luck.

Eternal Sunshine

I have lived with this condition "supraventriculartachycardia" for nearly 15 years. My mum has it and so does my brother. I was diagnosed after an episode where I passed out and taken to the ER.

It IS NOT just fast heartbeat. Fast heartbeat is called sinus tachycardia - which means that the heart is beating normally just fast. With SVT, there is an irregularity in the heart rhythm and can be dangerous if not converted back to normal (sinus) rhythm soon; Most causes of SVT are benign. Heart is generally structurally normal, the problem occurs with conduction of electrical impulses to the heart. People with very severe SVT have to have pacemakers.

There are couple of good options though, depending on the type of SVT you have. One is medication. My SVT has been well controlled by taking a tablet every 12 hours and I haven't had an attack in over a decade.

There is ablation surgery that's a permanent solution. I am too chicken to do it - but it would cure me and remove the need for medication. It carries certain risks though that I am not prepared to take (at this stage anyway).

SVT is also nothing to do with anxiety or panic attacks. Although stress and caffeine do make it more likely to happen - they are certainly not the cause.

Wow, how scary..though it seems like you're in good hands and have a lot of support around you seeing as where you work! That's great.

Do keep track of all this, make a daily dairy and write down everything, what you feel, smell, pain or no pain. Sorry you threw up today. Hope it's flu related or something you ate rather than heart related issue.. (Not that I wish you to have stomach flu, but that's not serious).. Do take care and do updates!

Wow. I did not know it was that serious. My doctor didn't really explain it, he just referred me to an EP doctor. Now I'm kinda nervous.

My left arm feels weird lately. I've been experiencing a lot of different sensations on the left side of my body. Yesterday, the back of my neck on the left side felt very sore and like there was a knot and today my arm is that way. It's uncomfortable typing right now. Last week I had cramps in my left upper leg too. I don't know if that is related to anything but it's something I am going through! It's weird how it is only on my left side.

Anyways, thanks for the insight. I am anxious to see the cardiologist friday and see what he has to say.

If you start really feeling unwell, dizzy, flu like symptoms, throwing up or feeling like throwing up, combo that with what you've already said about your arm and legs, GO to the ER or call 911.

Ask as many questions as you can with your Dr about this, and when googling, only rely on reliable sites that give out the proper info.
