How to become more carefree and outgoing?

I want to be this super carefree outgoing person, I hate constantly being worried about what people think of me and being super insecure it is ruining me. MY friend is SOOOO outgoing, she can just start talking to random people in bars and in class (she is really really super pretty though so I can understand why people would talk to her a lot especially guys) and I just can't. I always feel super insecure, like if I go up to someone they don't actually want to talk to me. If I am drunk I can start convos super easy but obviously I cannot live my entire life drunk. I just want to be outgoing and confident, I KNOW this is holding me back from meeting new people (including men) and I need to step it up in 2013 I am going for a potential husband this upcoming year. I know that since I am graduating I haven't taken full advantage of interacting so now I have to hurry and learn and interact well between now and May and meet someone OR get a job and still learn how to interact and meet someone like that (not just men either, I need more friends in general men and women). I can do this, I just always feel worried like someone would be embarrassed to talk to me, or a guy would feel embarrassed to have me as his GF. The only person who I felt comfortable with was my ex because he said he would always protect me... See how well that turned out for me lol . I usually of course wait on a guy to come to me because at least I know he is interested and I know he knows about my CP (because he can see it) and he doesn't care so I don't have to feel super embarrassed or ashamed because he knows already. I am ready to go out and meet someone in real life! I am a little done with OLD :D

Most importantly I have to improve for myself not to just get a guy.. That would be great if it happened though :) My friend and I were talking about how we need to step our game up because everyone we graduated with is getting engaged and pregnant 3 more people have in the last month. I need to be doing the same within the next year or so.

As is the case with most things that involve risk, whether it's public speaking or talking to someone out of fear of embarrassment, the fear never goes. ''The trick, Mr.Potter, is not minding that it hurts.''
