Ask, Believe, and Receive?

The story of Sarah and her visitation by 3 angels is one of my faves. Everybody knows Sarah laughed when she heard that she'd be pregnant in her old age (and that's why I believe it's literal years), but we don't catch the subtlety of when the angels actually got pissed off at her! They basically got impatient and asked why she doubted! They must have been thinking, "Who the heck do you think you are telling us that it's impossible, you're just a human!"

Another interesting thing is that it says "the Lord" was one of the 3 visitors. Bizarre.

Imperfectionisbeauty, dont waste your time on religion. I prayed for 10 years for a girl and all I got was watching my friends pair up with women. I never even got a kiss, so I decided enough is enough. Dont listen to the religios people who say that you should pray for gods will. If there is a god, it is obvious that he does not care about us, but it is more likely that he does not exist. Put your faith into logic and science. Unlike religion, science accomplishes things. You wanted to have a significant other, find out what attracts men and use it. God does not exist, so dont waste your time praying, but instead, use logic to get what you need.

I am not religious....thank you very much. Did it ever occur to you that your prayers haven't been answered yet? God may not exist for you...but he is the reason I breath. I will respect your decisions...do not disrespect mine.

I'm going to believe in God no matter what because there have been too many things I have done that could have killed me and I have walked away unharmed. I know God exists for sure, I just struggle with keeping the faith.. If that makes sense?

Beauty, I can tell you what works for me. I pray for whatever I want at the time - completely open heart. I also implore God to guide me in wisdom, to teach me His gentle ways, and never ever leave me or abandon me, even when I'm being a little terror on wheels.

I also put all my faith into believing that everything will work out for the good of those who love the Lord. Always, no exceptions. Precisely for this very reason, I know better (and have lived too long) to expect things to turn out exactly the way I envision them. That has never happened; and in hindsight I'm always thankful for that. (But that certainly doesn't stop me from asking for things!) He's got that birds-eye view that I just don't have. He already knows the desires of my heart before I even ask for it. And He knows WAY better than I do what the best outcome is.

You've just got to keep praying, keep turning to Him and talking to Him (about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING - even the ugly stuff), hand everything over to His care, and trust Him completely. That last part is really tough, and I still struggle with that. But EVERY TIME I've done that, the outcome has been so much better than what I asked for to begin with.

We're all just muddling through this life doing the best we can. IME, things get easier (and way better) whenever I hand it all over to God.

I don't believe that prayers are "answered" by a person receiving what they asked for in prayer.

I do believe in the many powers of prayer.

Imperfectious;

The one thing that IS TRUTH & God promises is that if we believe , and ask we will receive His Grace, His Mercy and Salvation.

Yes, God will grant you what He KNOWS is best for you. There will be times when we want something more than we can bare but God says No my child, that's not best for you. I have different plans for you. Just remember that if you choose to believe then you have also chosen to believe He loves you and knows what is best for you*

God gives to those who seek him what is best for them, not necessarily what will satisfy their worldly desires. Ironically, it's the people who reject God that God allows to follow their own passions and sink in them. Perfect example is Jacob and Esau. So don't necessarily judge whether or not your prayers are answered by how much worldly gain you receive, but rather by how you are changed more into the likeness of Jesus.

Ib;

Also, God desires to be FIRST in your life! Not second to a man or child or whatever your desire may be.

I know that it wasn't until I "surrendered" my will to Him & let His will become my own that my dreams and desires were met.

He allowed me to have a dog though to keep me company until and in His perfect time introduced me to my husband*

However God created you w/specific needs and desires so it is highly doubtful He would "wire" you this way w/out planning to fufill those desires in His time w/the the "right" person.

Hugs**

Wow. That takes serious spiritual maturity to say something like that. I know very few people who place God even over their own family. Family is one of the few accepted idols in modern Christianity. The other one is love of money.

I always ask the Father for things that I need and for people in need. I receive what I ask for because his word says so. Even when I don't see the answers the way I expect them.
