Does every woman want to model? What is the need or sense for every woman to be a mod

What are your thoughts in regards to these questions?

I think when you are in your teens you are more susceptible to aspirations of modelling, you are swayed by advertisements you are swayed to pose in (to me) unbecoming seductive poses....the fish lips thing what is that??????...its not freaking natural......;0)

i think you are more susceptible into being conned....from the very beginning i have teenage daughters....i never entered them in baby competitions where their face value on what they look like was put on display...same went for my sons.....i got asked to put them in tv commercials...and its a nah.....its a really external looks orientated industry......and rather false....airbrushing etc...unreal expectations of......

i got conned when i was young .......it didnt take much to con me....i was impressionable a bit of a seeker, they never once offered you are beautiful it was hot sexy ....etc......i didnt feel hot sexy ...i felt pretty much a goof.....i regret getting my photos taken...everything they said to me was utter crap......and have a problem getting my photo taken now ......in fact i pretty much destroy any photo of me ....my family keep photos of me if they can get them.....without me knowing.....i have regrets about the destruction of my photos....i think modelling is a meat industry that gives more unrealistic expectations and physical ideals to impressionable young girls who shouldnt be modelling...if the industry actually portrayed the average body with all its lumps and bumps .....it would i feel, be less damaging to a girls psyche.......

models probably, not saying all models, some are very adapted, but it is fact the models who have that haunted look in their eyes are the ones that make the most money....the quirky girls who when you see the eyes pop out from a flat page made of paper portray something that makes you look again.......thats why classically beautiful woman can stand in front of a camera and be deadpan....they want a model who has somethign that can attract attention....a model who has the interest factor

the modelling industry uses girls who have issues to start with .....i dotn know if this has been used....my theory..here it is....

its like the mona lisa.....the painting of a woman that is universally known not because she is considered classically beautiful but it is in her smile and her eyes the painting portrays something that you cant put your finger on...what is she thinking about...you just want to know.....i feel photographers subscribe to this theory more often than not...its all about the act not the girl or even the face...or the beauty

its sex....and selling products.....you dont do average girls for that...you do that with girls who shouldnt really be in the public eye the ones with haunted eyes who are used to covering them up with an act....that is why many ...and i say many girls who model...lean to the darkness of the industry....and they fall and stumble their way through until they are washed up with crows feet with drug habits...notice the girls who are this way are th ones who are quirky...........then they arent needed anymore...pretty sad industry that preys on girls and possibly even guys....to sell away products and fashion....that people buy anyway...........deb

When I was younger I worked in NYC and was often approached to model. When I found out I basically would have to strip down to a G-string in front of strangers, that was the end of that. I was much too shy. You'll notice that models are never timid wallflowers.

I have only met one person in my 37 years who was an aspiring model. But then, that could be because people i surround myself with always concentrated on the intellectual side of themselves....

So no, not all women want to be models.

Modelling has lots of perks. It's easy money for a few hours of posing. I kinda enjoyed doing it. I never aspired to be one but things just kinda fell into my lap. Not all women aspire to be models. I was reluctant at first coz' i am a bit shy and unsure of myself. But eventually i got the hang of it.

Downsides are:

It is not a forever job.

Maintaining your looks and weight was exhausting.

I became bulimic before because i always had to fit into tiny clothes.

It is competition all the time so it kinda hurts the ego if i lose an ad i want so bad to another girl.

And lastly, most models i knew (including myself) are some of the most insecure people in the world. It was a temporary ego boost but at the end of the day sans makeup and fancy clothes, i still battle with all my imperfections.

What a question!

Many women just want to be in the best possible shape they can be in; for health reasons and to maintain a positive self-image.

It's not easy staying in the best shape possible. Models have to do so for a living.

When I was young (and in school) I modeled part time and it was fun. I enjoyed it immensely and only modeled clothes, never lingerie. It was a great part time job that came with many perks and a chance to meet interesting people. I don't think many women set out to model as a career. The girls that model who make the big bucks are chosen by a scout. It is a waste of money to enter modeling school and such to become a model. It just doesn't happen.

Never even crossed my mind. I was approached and did some car advertisements, but even then it was as a lark. I was too much into academia...

Definitely not every woman wants to model! I did a bit when I was younger but it was just for fun. That was my only reason. It also helped me gain self confidence and I enjoyed working with various photographers and learning the technical side off things from them. These days, I take photos of other people :)

Actually none of my friends have aspired to be models. I've actually been wanting to do modeling since 16 and I'm almost 24. I just got into modeling this past year and I really enjoy it, even as a hobby.

You do meet a lot of interesting people though when you first start and connect through websites such as modelmayhem. Most of my experiences have been positive and no, you don't need to be anorexically thin to be a model. I'm happy with the way I look and not afraid to show it. This past weekend I had a shoot and I enjoyed it...modeling expensive dresses the photographer paid for and then returned later. Although I grew a bit irritated because I was freezing my butt off towards the end (the photographer decided to take an extra 45 minutes to pick out clothing before starting the shoot, so it ended up lasting nearly 2 hours longer than expected) and when I said we needed to wrap up the shoot (It was like 45 degrees out and I was wearing a sleeveless dress and heels) he kept wanting to do photos. Very frustrating, LOL

I've been told before that I should model, and a couple of people have requested that I pose for them.

I haven't felt comfortable doing that. I can't stand the idea of being valued for my physical appearance. Maybe this is because I used to have self-image issues. I used to have bad teeth, terrible skin, glasses. I felt very ugly.

Lately I wouldn't mind doing modelling just as a side gig. I think it would be sweet to get some extra cash just because people think I'm pretty. It would be nice to be cut a break. The only model job I bothered to look into turned out to be bogus, though, so yeah. Not sure if I would ever actually get into it.

Forever Learning

I wanted to be a model in my teens, but so did everyone. I was not model material other than being very thin. I was only 'cute' at best, and never a striking beauty that would be in demand in the modeling industry. But that is just a teenage girl's dream, to be a model, to be deemed attractive, and to be famous and make big money. Pretty basic universal stuff there.

Just a bit of advice. Don't do modeling just because everyone says you should. I mean, that's great they think so, but you really have to want to model and enjoy it to be successful. I've loved people telling me I would make a great model, but I do it because I love it, pay or no. And it's not always fun and games. Yesterday I was stuck in one or two poses for nearly 2 hours...not comfortable! It really takes time for the paid shoots to come in also.

I also initially thought I couldn't be a model because I wasn't tall or thin enough. It took me awhile to get past it and realize I look great as I am and I love to model and represent that you don't need to be super tall or thin to be a model.

Alot of females want to be models because its glamorous; being put in the spotlight for fitting society's mold of attractive is a massive ego-boost, especially with how heavily women are judged on their appearance.
