Are you ever TOO busy to send a text?

I'm rarely too busy to send a text, but I'm often too busy to read a text.

The whole point of sending a text (instead of calling) is that the message doesn't require an immediate response. If you have something important to say, call. I assume any time someone sends me a text or an email that it isn't time-sensitive.

I am too busy to send a text about 23 hours of every day. Even if I am just vegging on the couch, I might be too busy to text. I don't think staying in constant touch with ANYONE is important or wise. Especially in the early days of dating, because nobody can, or should, keep that up. It's insane. What about the idea of private time?

I am in an older generation than most of you, so I'm sure it's more natural that I'll feel this way than you will. But I hope you will take my point of view into consideration, because I truly believe that "texting 24/7" is a dead end behavior. People really need to know that there are LONG stretches of time where they won't be expected to engage in social interactions with ANYONE, no matter how into that person they may be, without negative repercussions. It's really not healthy, IMO.

OP, on a different note than whether a person can be too busy to text or not - the fact that he went from "texting 24/7" to no contact for 3 days does not bode well.

Disenchantedly Yours
So, I met a guy who seemed super into me. We hung out for a month before our first official date. After our first date, his texts dropped from 24/7 to a couple times a day due to his job. (His job isn't very strenuous.) He told me not to worry about him texting me less because it doesn't mean he is losing interest or avoiding me.

But then three days go by without talking to each other at all. Yesterday he texts me saying:

"Hey, sorry for not texting you the past couple of days. I have been crazy busy."

I texted him back late at night, since I didn't check my phone all day. All I said was, "Hey! Oh yeah, that's fine. I understand. =]"

We already have an established date on the 26th that's still on, and he told me that this past week he had stuff to do after work before the lack of contact. Still. Texting takes 10 seconds.

So: Are you ever TOO busy to text a person that you're interested in?

I don't like being a slave to my phone. I have a cellphone but I leave all over the place. I don't carry it with me. I don't feel the need to give instaneous responses. Infact, I haven't been able to find my phone for two days :/..I got to find it though.

I am often too busy to text. I don't check my phone for hours at work.

Also, I often feel like some texts aren't relevant after a certain period of time so I ignore them. For example, I fell asleep yesterday while texting a couple of people. When I woke up the texts were out of context and not important, so I didn't text back. I'll contact these people in a couple of days. No big deal.

These people are just friends though. I'm better with texting when I have romantic interest in someone.
