sk0r3
Seriously. This has unfortunately been a really BIG problem for me as of late. I've always known that i've been somewhat careless at times & absent minded but the thing is, for the past few months i've been TRYING not to lose things - i check my pockets, count the number of items i've brought with me and have made a conscious effort to be more attentive. BUT i still manage to bloody lose things! Just yesterday i almost forgot my umbrella. Then today, i just found out i must have lost my contacts sometime last week. Geez. I. Am. So. Sick. Of. It. This is money coming out of my pocket and it's really ticking me off. I really really try to be more attentive but all that needs to happen is for something to creep into my head like maybe a friend pops up from nowhere and asks to go out for a quick lunch. Before i know it and only after the meal, i realize i've left something behind. What the heck is wrong with me? I really want to fix this because i truly cannot go on living like this. I'm 21 by the way (how much more when i get older! yikes!!)
frogprinz29
First of all, lay off the drugs. Just kiddin'. Sometimes when I get really busy and have alot of stuff to do, I keep a small notebook handy and jot stuff down right when it comes into my mind. Later at the end of the day I make a list or small entry of everything I need or need to do for the next day. Another thing I do is have one place for something and that one place only. That way, I'll know where to find it. Hopefully this helps. To be honest, I still leave the house without my car keys sometimes and forget/lose my damn little notebook. Anyway, good luck with the Alzheimer's.
moimeme
Get yourself in the habit of always checking yourself before you leave someplace. Put your keys in the same place all the time. Same goes for anything else you tend to lose. Have one place for them at home and one place when you're out and then check those places before you leave. I have a building pass for work that goes either in my backpack or in a pocket so when I'm leaving I pat the pocket or the backpack to make sure it's there. My keys always go in the same place in my purse and I also check that spot before I leave. Once you're in the habit of pausing just before you leave to take stock of 'what did I have when I got here', it's much harder to lose things. I keep umbrellas long enough for them to fall apart from use
Artifact
Hey I don't have any advice to give you really, because I do the same thing! But, I wanted to let you know you are not alone. I am 24, and no matter how often I write things down (I lose the list) or if I walk into a room repeating over and over again what I am going in to get, I still forget. I try to tie my umbrella around my leg when I sit down for lunch or ask someone with me to make sure to ask me if I have everything. (not that it's fair to put responsibility on someone else) I lose battery chargers, rings, books... and I just have to be patient and wait for them to show up. Definitely having one place for everything would be great! I have been told I am over doing it, and take on too many things at once. So, maybe we both just need a long vacation! artifact
Fayebelle
I lose lists- forget where I put reminder notes! It's VERY frustrating! Do you ever do goober things like put the jelly in the cupboard and the peanut butter in the fridge? I'm Famous for moves like that! My BF came out of the bathroom one day w/my shoe he found in the shower- Don't ask me how it got there b/c I have no idea!
Papillon
I'm also like an absent-minded old professor, constantly misplacing things. Or, leaving my wallet with all my stuff lying on the car seat, that kind of thing. I've noticed it's because my mind is hyperactive, I'm always thinking about stuff and ignoring my personal surroundings and what's happening around me.
joseph
Sleep deprived perhaps?? Its just a thought, but Ive been working crazy hours and haven't been getting enough sleep all summer; and i've been feeling this way all summer. However, I just quit my job and I'm taking a nice little break and all of a sudden I feel much sharper. I remember all the little things I used to forget. I don't have to double back for items ive forgotten. Its great. but otherwise, its must be some very mild case of amnesia you guys have. but first try getting some sleep. EC
LOL faye my mother once came home to find my hairbrush in the fridge? What it was doing there I don't remember. Also i used to smoke that maryJ and that really made me forget things...So if your doing that lay off of it for a while. After I stopped doing that I felt like the cloud that i was looking at life through was lifted. I remember a lot more things now. lol
Fayebelle
Can't blame Mary or anyone else....I've been this way since birth
EC
The hairbrush was Before Mary lol. Or I hate it when I serve myself cereal and I grab the milk and try to put it in the cupboard. I struggle for like a minute till I realize it doesn't fit and all the angles I was trying weren't going to help it fit because It's the freaking milk and it belongs in the fridge. Maaan...I hate when that happens. I just feel so dumb and I thank god that i was alone and no one saw that.

Papillon
OFF TOPIC: Urk! There's an old lady at work who puts salt in her coffee - BY CHOICE, and ENJOYS IT! At her suggestion, I tried it, and I nearly vomited.
