TheUnthoughtKnown
I'm just wondering how many of us spent Christmas a little unhappy at our current situations. I've always found it to be a great motivation; "where will I be next Christmas?" Most of my friends spent this Christmas at their own homes with their gfs, while I'm still practically living with my gf's parents. I was so angry and frustrated at yet another Christmas ruined that I set myself a goal. Next Christmas, for the first time ever, I'm going to invite my family, and my gf's family, to our home and me and my gf are going to cook Christmas dinner for them. That right there is my goal for the end of next year. It's not the only one, but it's a lovely thing to picture and I would love to make it happen. My gf had worse holiday blues than I did. She's 28 and had to move back home as she's changing careers and went back to Uni. She really beat herself up yesterday about it. Asked me how much longer I thought her parents would live (she is the youngest of 3, her parents are getting on a bit.) She asked me what would happen if this was her last Christmas with them as a family. What if they never got to see her get her life sorted. She really wants her independence and I think inviting her parents over for Christmas next year would accomplish that. So that's my plan. Anyone else made any decisions about their lives? I know this time of year is really hard for a lot of people, but maybe that can be a good thing.
pink_sugar
Almost all of our family was pretty broke this year. (I decided to make hand-made gifts). I made thanksgiving at my house for the first time, but that didn't bother me. The thought of having to move back home or renting a room is what has me down due to financial difficulties. We're trying to do whatever we can to have our own place next Christmas. My Aunt also seems to ruin all the dinners with some outburst due to her mental illness. In short, I want to be in better financial shape next year.
