As a physical organ, it gives us the ability to taste and speak. In the spiritual sense, the tongue controls our destiny, regardless of our status as Christians or unbelievers. According to Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..." This means that the power of cancer, leukemia, paralysis, long life, health and wealth are all embedded in the tongue. The tongue controls death and life! So what have you spoken it being that you are most proud of? For me, I remember telling my mum when I was a kid that I would go to university and graduate with honour (considering no one in the family had done that) and I did. I am not only a university graduate but a happy worker with a well paid job. I said it by faith, and it came to pass. Link to post Share on other sites

Be cautious on the conclusions you draw from those verses, otherwise you will fall into the "word of faith" doctrine. The tongue does hold power but God holds the highest power. To say that we can speak cancer, for example, in or out of our lives is to deny Gods sovereignty. The Bible says that God has made the sick and the healthy, the poor and the rich. The Bible says that God causes the sun to shine on (or good things to happen to) the righteous and wicked, alike. The Bible says that Gods purpose prevails, not ours. The truth is that, while the tongue does hold power, ultimately God is the one who oversees it. Yes, negativity can/may worsen cancer while positivity can/may heal it, but God reserves the right to do what he wants. He alone can heal you or keep you ill. Link to post Share on other sites

Also, I tell my mom everyday how proud I am for her to quit smoking, its been a month and she is struggling; I believe my words of encouragement helps her stay focused and strong. I also tell my adult son, who is visiting for the Holidays, I love him and am proud of him and he shares how he loves me too. It's quite sweet to be able to tell him I love him when he wakes up, goes out, and gets ready for bed. When dating, I tell my partner what a wonderful person and lover he is. Telling him 'I like you' seems to bring a smile on his face too. Sometimes, I am simply quiet when I feel someone is preoccupied and just sit back and chill out; that seems to be quite beneficial with men in my experience. Link to post Share on other sites

And when you (easily) break it down, it still makes good sense. Basically, do I choose to be a better person living the way of Christ, or not?
