M30USA
awake. Not even to that "falling asleep" phase. I kept thinking my imagination was getting the better of me. I rationalized that things were reflecting off my dresser mirror & the way the starlight was hitting my blinds put a spin on this pitch black area above me. I was still rationalizing that the movement was due to the baseboard heating sending just a slight enough breeze that the blinds (even though heavy) were moving just enough to make it or the reflection "appear" to be decending. I remember as the heaviness began in my chest that it was just fear which can be felt physically sometimes. When it wasn't going away and I sat up and starting praying it instantly became a struggle and that's when I called for help. I'm a fairly logical person. I question everything and try to see the science behind things before jumping on the "it's the devil" band wagon but this one leaves me w/one conclusion. And a question. Why did (if my conclusion is correct) God allow an event like this to happen to me? Then I have to tell myself it isn't my place to question His decisions but try to see the lesson in it... That's interesting. When Abraham received his covenant from God, it was described as dreadful, with heavy darkness. Why darkness and negative emotions if its associated with God? I've realized we can't always go by what sounds logical. Anything foreign is dreadful and terrifying.
Author ComingInHot
Openbook; He says when he came in the first thing was turn on the light. He says he saw me (obviously*) but it was like he was looking through something to me. There was no shape, it wasn't like a solid black or dark this but he could see something was between him and me. I called him a bit ago and we talked about it again. He said if it had been his eyes adjusting to the light it wouldn't have played on his eyes for more than a moment or two. You know what just hit me? My big brother saw the same thing as me. He saw my fear. He knew something was happening he couldn't beat up or grab yet he Still came to me, grabbed me w/whatever it was that was there and prayed/commanded it away. I think that's pretty great! M30USA
My friend's mom had a terrifying experience where she woke up in the middle of the night and some invisible force was literally dragging her body out of bed and across the floor. The proof that this wasn't "in her head" was that her husband not only testifies to being there as a witness, but was actually holding her body down to prevent her getting pulled away. Both his mom and dad keep this pretty hush and don't tell many people. What are you supposed to say or think when that happens to you? Science has NO explanation for these things and, worse yet, calls someone a delusional freak if they make such a claim.
Author ComingInHot
Which was why I felt pretty vulnerable starting this thread in the first place! I'm surprised there hasn't been a barrage of comments telling me to "get help"... This did happen many, Many moons ago, but w/media getting on the "speak to your dead relative" wagon, I worry about others being susceptible to being So mislead. Thought this approach would bring others questioning "talking to the dead" vs having or knowing they are experiencing either an angelic intervention/communication or a dark one trying to mislead or harm them... TheFinalWord
Which was why I felt pretty vulnerable starting this thread in the first place! I'm surprised there hasn't been a barrage of comments telling me to "get help"... Like mom said, if you don't have something nice to say...go to LS and post it anyway. Well, reality TV has capitalized on this "ghost" industry. I think most of it is just people siking themselves up. "Oh there's a crash!" "Oh there's a sound on this electronic device, meanwhile the police station 1 block away is cranking out radio signals all night"...I mean why do they always have to do these hunts at 3am? Do disembodied spirits care if there is sunlight? I have my serious doubts. But I also don't think messing with that stuff is a good idea either. Communicating with the dead (necromancy) is forbidden in the bible. Are people really talking to the dead during seance? Who knows. If they are communicating with spirits, they aren't from God b/c He forbade it. “When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you" Harry Houdini and his wife did an experiment that they would both contact each other if the one died before the other. They had a code that only the two of them knew. Well Houdini died and his wife was never able to contact him. Houdini himself was skeptical of the whole business, but he believed that if anyone could come back and make contact it would be the legendary escape artist himself. His wife gave up after 10 years or so I believe (haven't read his bio in years). So there's tonight's ghost story I've had a few things like that happen to me. When my grandfather passed away, he was supposed to fix my grandma's doorbell. He died in his sleep. We were all in the living room crying and reflecting the next day when the doorbell made a funny buzzing noise and just started working. The doorbell was completely broken. With some of the alternative medicines, acupuncture is supposed to work by tapping into the body's energy. Now, I never bought into it; but my mom was in chronic pain from a car accident; constant migraines, no relief, no sleep. When you're in chronic pain you get desperate. I told her just to try it. Lo and behold, after 5 sessions her neck was 100%. The first time in years. She didn't buy into the whole acupuncture, so I doubt it was placebo. Is it actually tapping chi? My guess it is doing something to the nerves? For my mom, it worked while conventional medicine, drugs, physical therapy did nothing.
Author ComingInHot
Final Word; Thanks you for your comment. I too believe one shouldn't go looking for connecting w/the "supernatural". At that same point, I also believe we should be prepared for it (from my experiences). I've had more than a few (encounters) but I think as I've grown in my faith, I can discern when there is an environment that I should not enter or leave. So, lately (as in many years) I have not encountered any "dark" things. You mentioned an experience or two. Does it make you More "open" to the fact we are not alone or more resolute in your faith? I'm guessing more resolute*
TheFinalWord
Final Word; Thanks you for your comment. I too believe one shouldn't go looking for connecting w/the "supernatural". At that same point, I also believe we should be prepared for it (from my experiences). I've had more than a few (encounters) but I think as I've grown in my faith, I can discern when there is an environment that I should not enter or leave. So, lately (as in many years) I have not encountered any "dark" things. You mentioned an experience or two. Does it make you More "open" to the fact we are not alone or more resolute in your faith? I'm guessing more resolute* Yes, I know there is a spiritual realm and that there are beings that exist in this realm. The bible does not give us a lot of information about exactly how the spiritual realm operates. God gives us enough to know what we can do in the spiritual (pray, spiritual armor, scripture). Mostly it guides us in being able to discern false spiritual teaching. In terms of spiritualism, the bible says not to dabble in supernatural practices that are so popular today such as necromancy. So if someone tells me to do this prayer to invoke this spirit, or do that practice to influence the spiritual realm I know not to go there. God created the spiritual realm and gives us these commandments to protect us, so I trust it. There are also a lot of con artists. Peter exposed one named Simon. Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.” They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery. But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw. When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
