AllergyBoy
This year, alone, I've had about 5 or 6 episodes of Post Nasal drip. I'll start feeling it dripping a little. My throat will Get scratchy, irritated. By the next day, i feel fluid in my lungs, My nose is runny, My head is killing me, pressure in my ears etc etc. ------ Anyway, It can't be cold after cold can it? I think it's an allergy. I do work in a small warehouse with tons of dust and cardboard boxes. I'm just trying to figure out what to do... I don't have medical insurance. And this is a pain, cuz I can't exercise when i'm having this problem. Any advice?
Fayebelle
over the counter- can be used daily
joseph
hehe, Fayebelle, you sound like the typical Doc... But unfortunately Claritin is an antihistamine. and if his post nasal drip is getting so bad that its leaking down his into his lungs, it could impair breathing... you need to identify the source of the allergen and remove yourself from it. moimeme
I don't believe it's possible for anything to leak into one's lungs. Post-nasal drip trickles down your throat and ends up in your stomach, like everything else that goes down your throat. If it were going into his lungs, he'd have a pretty bad case of pneumonia by now. The excess fluid is produced by histamines. Anti-histamines will shut off that fluid production - if they work. The non-drowsys like Claritin make me dizzy and don't work on my allergies but they do work for many folks. Actually, the best one I ever used was Reactine - but it made me depressed So I stick to the nighttime ones and use a decongestant in the daytime if my allergies are really bad. goodnbad
Hi, there! Being a big sufferer in the past of allerigies to dust and pollen, I have tried just about everything over the counter and none of it worked very well. I finally went to the doctor and she gave me a prescription for Flonase, a nasal spray. I haven't had any problems for over two years, which is great compared to having allergic reactions at least once every 2 weeks! The catch: I've been having some problems with ringing in my ears and vertigo, and for lack of any other reasons for this (after having an MRI, CATscan, ear tests) I am beginning to suspect it's the Flonase that is doing it. But I would rather have the ear problem, for sure, if that is even the real culprit. Maybe your doctor could get you a prescription? I hear there is a new nasal spray out there, but can't recall the name of it, sorry. Maybe someone else here knows. Good luck in whatever works for you! goodnbad
