me85
There are far too many songs to recall but one I've been listening to (a lot)recently is "why" by Annie Lennox.

Banjo Han
Eminem- headlights Yes this, and several Elton John songs come to mind - like I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues
Jingle14
Paulo Nutini - Rewind - the line about 'I kissed you in the hallway then took you straight to bed' being particularly poignant for me. Dionne Warwick - Walk on By. No explanation needed, only mine doesn't 'walk on by', he calls my name and kisses me on the cheek, like a dog peeing up a lamp post.
edgygirl
Elton John - I Want Love I want love, but it's impossible A man like me, so irresponsible A man like me is dead in places Other men feel liberated I can't love, shot full of holes Don't feel nothing, I just feel cold Don't feel nothing, just old scars Toughening up around my heart But I want love, just a different kind I want love, won't break me down Won't brick me up, won't fence me in I want a love, that don't mean a thing That's the love I want, I want love I want love on my own terms After everything I've ever learned Me, I carry too much baggage Oh man I've seen so much traffic So bring it on, I've been bruised Don't give me love that's clean and smooth I'm ready for the rougher stuff No sweet romance, I've had enough

CT98
Bob Dylan - Meet Me In The Morning. My favourite line 'They say the darkest hour is right before the dawn' Bob Dylan - Idiot Wind - an epic 7 minute master piece, lyrics really get me and you can tell he really means it just from his voice. Both the above songs are from the album Blood On The Tracks, an album I believe was written when he was going through a divorce. Fantastic album especially when going through a crap time. Also Oasis - A Bell Will Ring - 'A little space a little time see what it can do, a little faith piece of mind see what passes through, a bell will ring inside your head and all will be brand new'

FoolHeartedMan
Snow Patrol - You Could Be Happy You could be happy and I won't know But you weren't happy the day I watched you go And all the things that I wished I had not said Are played in loops till it's madness in my head Is it too late to remind you how we were? But not our last days of silence, screaming, blur Most of what I remember makes me sure I should have stopped you from walking out the door You could be happy, I hope you are You made me happier than I'd been by far Somehow everything I own smells of you And for the tiniest moment it's all not true Do the things that you always wanted to Without me there to hold you back; don't think, just do More than anything I want to see you, girl Take a glorious bite out of the whole world
CT98
Bert Jansch - Needle of Death - it's about heroin addiction, but it sets the mood.

Author ScienceGal
I can remember the good old days, Where you and me, we used to hide away Where the stars were shining or the sun was blinding our eyes Yeah, you filled up my glass With promises that could never last But I still find pieces of you in the back of my mind And all of the things that we once said, Are not in my heart, they're in my head That was the time to say goodbye Let's put it to rest, yeah, let it die 'cause we don't, we don't need to talk about this now Yeah, we've been down that road before That was then and this is now The crowds in my heart they've been calling out your name Now it just don't feel the same Guess it's over, yeah, we're done I heard you made your way downtown To the place I've been hanging around I was looking for your face in the crowd But trying to keep my head down Over time our wires crossed Well you changed and the truth got lost All the things I would change if we could only rewind You were a moment in life that comes and goes A riddle, a rhyme that no one knows A change of a heart, a twist of fate Couldn't fix it, it's too late 'cause we don't, we don't need to talk about this now Yeah, we've been down that road before That was then and this is now The crowds in my heart they've been calling out your name But it just don't feel the same I guess it's over, yeah, we're done Whoa Oh oh oh We don't, we don't need to talk about this now We don't, we don't need to talk about this now We don't, we don't need to talk about this now We don't, we don't need to talk about this now
Cora
I'm sure many of these have already been posted and I apologize in advance if they have. I haven't gone through the entire thread yet.
