30 day challenge (breaking habits)

this is going to sound pretty lame i'm quite certain lol, but figure I want to start this thread on here as a bit of extra motivation to kick a couple bad habits that aren't letting me grow.

 

1. not creeping my exes facebook (i now have her blocked, even though we weren't friends when I was creeping it).

 

2. no masterbating (or sex hopefully too...trying to focus on self/goals, and not women for a bit).

 

 

those are the 2 big things. yeah they seem simple enough, but the longest i've gone without doing either of those things over the past ___ months is a week lol and that was only once for each. generally do both on a daily basis.

 

i'm currently on day 2. so i'll likely come in here and update periodically. i also have a finance course (online) i'm taking and want to finish within the next 2 months, so i might even update how much reading i've done that day.

 

lastly, WHEN i make it through the 30 days, i hopefully will not be rewarding myself by breaking the streak, but starting a new 30 days, and so on. want to get up to 150 days (about 5 months). i doubt i'll be able to last without ejaculating for that long (ie sex), but hopefully at least no creeping the ex and no masterbating. although i realize it's going to be quite a mountain to go from a week tops, to 5 months! here goes!

Lol, I just find it so bizarre how some guys stop themselves from masturbating, as though it's not normal or natural and that stopping it will be really good for them. :laugh:

I would add something positive into challenge as well.... something like 1 bit of exercise EVERY day for the 30 day period...

 

trust me... one decent session down the gym and FB stalking and wanking are the last things on your mind!

I've always found that after working out I'm more in the mood for a wank.

well i'm unemployed right now, and i masturbate like 3+ times a day lol.

 

also i've been noticing libido problems (strength of erections) and there are TONS of educated professionals that believe masturbating/porn contributes to this lower libido/softer erections. plus i've heard tons of guys say how great they feel when they haven't masturbated in a month or however long. i'm not saying it's going to work, but doesn't hurt to try.

 

to be honest i haven't had morning wood for as long as i can remember (the odd time soft wood) and i don't know what's up! gotta try everything.

true. i mean the gym is already a pretty big priority of mine, BUT i stopped over the holidays b/c i got really sick. i am starting to feel better recently though so you're right I should make sure i hit the gym daily. i'll have to start that tmrw, on day 3. also like i said reading my finance textbook will be very important, and i plan on documenting starting tmrw how much i read that day.

Masturbating or sex will lower the libido, as in, after you've orgasmed, your sex drive completely drops and then takes some time to come back again. That doesn't really seem like a reason to stop either.

 

Personally, I think masturbating/porn contributes to softer erections to be complete bull****, I don't see why it would cause that and it's never had that effect on me.

 

I guess maybe some guys do feel great for some reason if they don't have a sexual release for over a month, maybe it will do with you too. But I honestly believe it would be the opposite for me and a lot if not most guys to be honest.

i think it has something to do with you being desensitised. eg. you're used to seeing hardcore explicit, graphic, sex every day and these girls are generally 9/10+, then maybe everyday normal events that would generally stimulate you, just aren't that exciting/make you horny anymore. this is just one component of it, but if you do further research you'll find much more on the topic.

 

today was day 3. i also went to the gym for a chest workout this morning. glad to be heading into day 4...can't wait to see if the urges start disappating after a few weeks.

 

today i really didn't get the urge to masturbate really. but i did want to check the exes facebook. so badly want to see who the new guy is and sort of evaluate him, but also realize how unhealthy and hurtful it would be to see it, so i'm glad i'm committed to not checking (still very early albeit).

day 4 started out awesome with some morning wood! been a whilee. still extremely early, hopefully that becomes more consistent with time.

 

another side goal of mine is my weight. i'm 5'8 175 lbs right now. i have a decent amount of muscle on me and have worked hard just to get up to 175. i want to get up to 190 over the next couple months, and then once at 190, go hard on the cardio (and weights so not to lose muscle mass) and shed a good 10 lbs of fat. i will start that in march though. right now it's all calories, and adding mass/muscle. no cardio (hate that, b/c i love running, but i really want all my calories being put towards building muscle!).

nearing the end of Day 5...

 

-went to the gym this morning, big back workout. as for the no masturbating/no facebook creeping, i'll say it's gone along quite well so far, with no real strong urges to do either. i did 'take the dog out for a walk' today as he got a little excited while on POF lol but just light 'petting', and put him back in. knew not to get too carried away as i know i can't resist when i get 'too excited'. as for the ex, i still think about her WAY too much, but at least haven't had the urge to look at her facebook. BUT i know it'll get real tough around valentines day for sure (assuming i make it that far, which i will!).

 

that being said, i need to change a few things. i'm wasting too much time right now throughout the day. i'm actually going to set a goal to NOT use the internet all day (unless i need to for my course) and limit my internet use to morning before the gym, and at night before bed. this will be very hard, but is really needed so i start focusing on my studies much more and stop getting so easily distracted/procrastinating.

 

so day 5 complete, 145 more to go lol (if i reach my ultimate goal).

another thing, as of tmrw, i'm DONE with the Break Ups forum and coping/second chances forum for a long while. at least the 30 days. i find as i'm browsing in there it just stirs up memories obviously of my own failed relationship. i'm at the point where i've accepted defeat and am letting go, so i don't need to take trips down memory lane if i can help it. this will also be hard, but from tmrw on LoveShack will be just for my 30 day goal updates!
