Fear is a Killer

Recommended Posts

This is something I found that IMO is way cool:

Proverbs 3:25-26 Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.

Be on the alert for temptations to believe lies that lead to fear.

False

Evidence

Appearing

Real

Fear in many cases has been the driver to my many calamities (self inflicted of course). I know we all deal with fear from time to time, although mine can be serious at times...do you guys deal with this?

Funny you posted this pure, this is the underlying issue I'm dealing with right now in my own life. Just yesterday I was trying to figure out why I was so ambivalent - and it hit me in the kitchen. It's because I'm afraid. And when I get afraid, I freeze. That's where I'm at right now. I really needed to read what you posted! Thanks for being the messenger. :D

In some ways I am fearless to a fault and it has led to some ruin for myself. Curiosity killed the cat as it were. But fear is no way to live as a norm--as it makes you the easy con target of exploiters i.e. the enemy within. I'd like to see a new age to come from the legacy of war and these frequent mass shootings where people take pride in courage to live unarmed by choice. I have no use for "lords" nor do I seek to be a lord--if we all hold truth higher than fear or blind faith, we can not run afoul. I'd wish everyone peace, but peace is only a middle ground between hate and love. Therefore, Love.

The only healthy fear is the "fear of The Lord".

"My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments."

(Psalms 119:120 ESV)

Yep- mine is trauma based. Am just now coming out of a place, and I think OB brought up the freezing point, of which left me frozen/paralised, only able to function on certain levels. I was unable to access God even, spiritually dead/dry. It is a horrid place to be.

Am finding that unforgiveness, bitterness, and hopelessness is present also. So many situations popped up this last summer that brought up old issues that I thought were gone....it's just so ugly.

You hit it right here in my case. Past tense now, and have gone in the extreme opposite direction, which isn't healthy either.

Concerning wars, I think there are wars that free the oppressed, and wars that oppress, wars that originated from greed and a need for power. I too wish there could be a world without war, although while evil exists, wars will continue. I know we differ in certain ways, although that's the beauty of diversity:)

IMO, Hollywood has/is played/playing a much larger roll in desensitising and traumatising societies.

Very profound FF, hate and love. One can't exist while in the presense of the other...

I think everyone today has/deals with some kind of fear.

Fear is actually in our thinking. Fear is what hasn't yet happened (in reality), but we think it might happen.

I've seen some people not having much fear and some with too much fear. It could be how we shape up our mind and go to extreme about anything. Like for example, we go to extreme in our thinking that we'll get the worst result of this particular thing, which most of the time doesn't even happen in reality.

So, fear exists in our thinking, if we have belief in God, only then we can remove fear I think. Otherwise it might be quite difficult to remove one's fear.

Thank you for this and welcome to LS:) ...it all originates in the mind and agree 100% with all you said:)

Fear can be overcome by a whole variety of methods. The most effective for me personally is to understand exactly what it is I am fearful of and why.

Sometimes we rightly fear certain things, and that fear keeps us in check. Fear of walking alone at night in the city is probably one example of a fear that is justified and best left in place. It's a handy survival mechanism, and not always a bad thing.

Oh how true and after posting thought I should point out the healthy fear, so thanks for covering that....I'm way over in the extreme. Thank you for pointing out that balance is the key...awesome!

Thanks OB, it was really late last night and something drove me to follow through with this email I got earlier in the day.

It's my root issue also, then realised God wants me to leanon Him rather than what I see. Easier said than done though. A couple of friends have been essential in keeping me focused in the sense that "I" am not in control, God is, and this covers every aspect of any fears, hate, unforgiveness and all of the rest.

Yep hate...recently have found myself hating on rather high levels. Namely an incident that came up in the summer, sparking much hate and resentment concerning some grave injustices with an ex-husband. Then began to look around me and saw almost everyone in my life as users and snakes.

What my ex did was inexcusable both in the summer and past, although the rest in my life got viewed through eyes of hate and resentment...paranoia. I KNOW and have communicated this over and over that people will be people and WILL fall short- every single one of them, but had hit a point of which I was tired of being nice and understanding. There is not too much worse than a person operating in rebellion due to past injustices.

Thank you so much Deb for such kind words of major encouragement. I read your post eariler and have been praying for you. I don't want toget into your business, although how your post reads, it sounds as if some health issues are taking place. Being one who is/has been self-destructive throughout my life, I can tell you that God has healed me through them all, or at least to the degree of which they are tolerable with some of them.

LOL, my screen name is what my name means...when signing onto LS, the first site that I'd ever been on with discussion format, had to come up with something quick.

I want to tell you, I feel an amazing peace, everytime I read one of your posts...there is a heavy anointing there. Thank you for being obedient and signing onto LS...(((((((((lots of hugs Deb:) ))))))

Awesome post PIH. Another passage for you to study :)

Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world. They proceed from the world and are of the world; therefore it is out of the world [its whole economy morally considered] that they speak, and the world listens (pays attention) to them. We are [children] of God. Whoever is learning to know God [progressively to perceive, recognize, and understand God by observation and experience, and to get an ever-clearer knowledge of Him] listens to us; and he who is not of God does not listen or pay attention to us. By this we know (recognize) the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him]. He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest (displayed) where we are concerned: in that God sent His Son, the only begotten or unique [son], into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins. Beloved, if God loved us so [very much], we also ought to love one another. No man has at any time [yet] seen God. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us! By this we come to know (perceive, recognize, and understand) that we abide (live and remain) in Him and He in us: because He has given (imparted) to us of His [Holy] Spirit. And [besides] we ourselves have seen (have deliberately and steadfastly contemplated) and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son [as the] Savior of the world. Anyone who confesses (acknowledges, owns) that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides (lives, makes His home) in him and he [abides, lives, makes his home] in God. And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection]. We love Him, because He first loved us.

Thank you so much for sharing this, thinking I should write most of this down and tape it to my mirror:)

We know that perfect love casts out all fear, and I pondered that fact just now, and found I don't know how to love anymore, and am quite detached. It's quite sad actually. I know how to be "nice" and respectful, considerate and such ...and these are genuine, although am on guard to the point that if someone is nice "back", there must be an angle of some sort. This doesn't include friends online, or some of my friends, or people I talk with here in discussions.

This is pathetic in thinking, that in most cases I have allowed people close to me to use me to this degree. It's trust issues.

God must be healing me TFW because I can't even tell you all of the little things that God has put in my way lately to cause this deep rooted issue to surface...lol, and not just in part, but in it's entirety. Knowing this is an awesome work of God, it just doesn't feel that way at the moment...I see lot's of work to be done from the inside out...lol, it's making me tired thinking of it.

Just to let you know...you guys are awesome. It has been a 27 year quest to be healed, and you guys have really helped bigtime, and I thank you:D
