FordFocus
Hey all Really wasn't sure were to post this but i'd thought i try in this section. My Fiance is 4"10 and I'm 6 ft, we plan to get married early 2014 (plenty of time!) but she has been stressing (i assume its gonna be a long year ) about our wedding dance, she is really worried its gonna be awkward for us and those watching. The height difference doesn't bother either of us at all, she's not worried about the photos or anything, it's just the dance she's worried about it...not so much me. So yeah, anyone been in a similar situation before?
skweezd
I would have her get a pair of stilletto's just for the dance. Have her keep them under the table. When it comes time, switch to her high, high heels, and then switch back. She should gain 6 inches with the right heels and whalla... everything's fine.
Ninja'sHusband
If that's all you guys are worried about you're doing great! My wife(well ex wife now) is 4'11" and I'm 5'11", so two inches less difference from you guys. It really wasn't a big deal.
Janesays
Good news! No one wants to sit and watch you dance. Seriously. They don't. The wedding couple is supposed to START the dance. They are not supposed to perform for a rapt audience of onlookers. Begin the dance as you should, then split up. You grab the hand of your mother or close female family member, she grabs her father/brother/uncle and you dance with them. At this point, your wedding party should be taking the initiative to grab members of the opposite sex and lead them to the dance floor. This is the ACTUAL tradition. The 'couples dance/fathers dance/mothers dance' are simply modern perversions of this tradition encouraged by those who seek to show off instead of showing their guests a good time. Go with the older, more graceful and charming wedding dance and no one will notice your height difference because they will be too busy dancing and actually ENJOYING your wedding. CarrieT
Haven't you seen the wonderful scene in Notting Hill (or is it Four Weddings and a Funeral?) where the incredibly tall man is literally holding the girl up and dancing around with her, with her feet dangling? It is utterly, utterly charming...
Radu
Or the Black Cat, White Cat [movie, very nice] couple between the 6"5' man and the 5" woman. They actually looked very cute together.
