Recommended Posts

if u guys already now i am a 23 yr old male well i'm chinese if it makes any cultural sense. I want to get to now this girl i like from school before but is scared b/c my folks wouln't like the idea or even allow me to go out at night time. this is after 7 pm or even 6, so what do u tell ur date -she'll probably laugh.

i get treated like a 13 yr old- in the morning i pour a glass of sprite(pop) and mom saw this and physically removed my glass of pop and said no drinking pop in the morning-its sugarly and this and that and now it is the afternoon she allowed me to drink it. i am so sick and tired of this what do i do.

i want to move out after i find a good job but isn;t rent expensive how do u guys manage or how much should i make before i can even pay rent. this is not just me but my other siblings too who are all in their early 20's, i think my folks aren't going to change be it i turn 30 or 40. what do i do for a short term solution

If you are attending college, it may be possible to find job postings or placement through your school. After you obtain a job, and you get out of the house more, perhaps you can use the school resources to find a group of students who would consider paying rent for an apartment together. I've known a lot of people who have done these types of things before. Everyone chips in for the rent, lives in semi-squalor, but gains that sense of independence. Sort of.

It sounds as though you aren't interacting too well with your parents at home. If you want to move out, I'd suggest looking for ways to do that. If your parents won't agree to pay rent so you can get out of their hair, it will unfortunately be up to you to find a room mate, or two, or three, after finding a job.

Bottom line in life: if you don't pay the rent, you don't make the rules.

I agree that your parents should treat you as a 23-year-old, but it's hard to let go of the apron strings sometimes.

Your only option is to get a job and get out on your own. If your parents won't let you get a job, then you're going to have to grow some steel nads and take some risks and do it all yourself....or otherwise, you'll have this to look forward to for a long, long time.

I am 33 and still my mom treats me like I'm 13! Doesnt' help that I'm the youngest either.

The folks won't change so don't expect them to. You have to take the bull by the horn and change your way of dealing with them, how you react to them. make a joke of it and just let it go. It's the way they are and it doesn't help that they have some traditional beliefs in them and putting it on you too.

I don't how well you can communicate with them but maybe one day casually ask them why they treat you like you are a little kid...
