As my Dad promised to take her to the cinema but he won`t go.

She gets her hopes up with him but all he does is sit in the living room taping.

He already has the actual box set (Tenko/Starsky and hutch etc) but he still tapes them over and over.

He moans he wants tickets to watch shows but he just sits in the car park.

With a mini dvd player watching his dvd`s.

He has never shown any support.

My sister went bowling for her birthday he promised to come but again sat in the car in car park.

He has Starsky and hutch/Tenko,Murder she wrote,the equaliser,The original Hawaii 5 O

Quincy etc thats what he tapes he has the box sets but he tapes them then when he finished he starts over again.

He sleeps in the living room always has and has always been like this he will not do any social things.

He did not go to my sister wedding (older sister)

Or he won`t watch me in shows he ask for tickets but just sit in the car park.He wont watch my brother band. Just sit in car park again.

It may not be a phobia - but it sounds like a mental disorder to me.....

You need to get him medically checked.

A public discussion forum is not the place to seek diagnosis.

But we'll support in whichever way we can.

Look up maladaptive daydreaming.

Maladaptive daydreaming - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The longer you tend to have it, the harder it is for you to break away from those fantasies.

In effect you are hypnotising yourself to escape your ****ty life, it's plain and simple escapism.

I had it and still have it to some degree, as a result of a very long undiagnosed period of depression.

It can be ... directed to some productive goals, but you need to see a specialist if it's this.

You need to see a specialist either way.
