She doesn't wear make-up/earings that often...

Why are you guys arguing the fact that male controlled society is why make up exists for women on such a large scale. Why get so bent out of shape that I state such a thing? Any woman or astute male would nod in agreement with that.

By the way, this is your quote telling all of us we are wrong for liking something that you don't.

I said I believed its BS that women are constantly expected to wear it. I never said you are wrong for having your own personal preference that it looks good. Again, read whats there.

I saw this thread when it had 0 posts, and I just knew it was going to turn into this :lmao:. Good thing I had something to do.....

OP, it's clear that this is concerning you, whether it should concern you is up to the dynamic you have between you and your SO. It's going to be difficult to bring up, but I would gently praise and encourage her when she is made up if I were you, rather than draw attention to your concern about her lack of dressing up and make up.

As for the other predictable sideshow in this thread , I find that while I like women when they don't wear makeup (and I do :D), I am indifferent either way, and I believe that most women who wear makeup perhaps want to make an effort in their own right. Women can be beautiful with or without makeup, that much is a given. Some women enjoy makeup, others don't. Not everybody is negatively affected by what the media pushes.

omg some of ya consider wearing earrings to be unreasonable/dressing up?! lmao. oh god.

So if you dont wear makeup you look like crap?

Im saying women can be and are sexy and beautiful without it.

No I don't look like crap w/o make up but I do look better with it. I have uneven skintone, so simply tinted moisturizer or light foundation evens that out. I have pale skin, blush adds "life" to my cheeks.

You can like the natural look, I wear make up and still look natural. My make up routine literally takes 10 min max...that's for a night out. My daily/work make up...like 5 min. No biggie.

As for shaving my legs and stuff...yeah my man will still like me with hairy legs, but smooth legs feel better to him, so why not keep them smooth for him? It takes like 7 min to shave.

I think this is all weird coming from you. You are all about a woman needs to be in shape and fit, physically appealing in that sense....

this.

i have to have my hair done and i wear makeup every day for work. it can get tedious and i'll have to say i don't enjoy doing it much.

on weekends, i don't wear a lot of makeup, if any - mascara, bit of blush and some lip-gloss. but if we go out, i will do my hair, i will do my makeup properly, and it takes me about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

i do it for myself as well as for my husband.

he's seen me sick, without makeup, tired - and he thinks i look good, even after 15 years of being together.

but i know that he also appreciates my effort to get dolled up when we're going somewhere.

Im sure your man doesnt go whining online about you either if you dont wear make up for a few months.

Im all about natural. Being fit is natural and can be done with hard work. Makeup is basically art work and artificial stuff on someones face and body in my opinion.

Ill take the flaws. Hell, Im fit and I have flaws I actually like. And Id love the flaws on a fit gal too.

Did it occur to anyone else that Kaylan and Keenly kind of look the same?

I would imagine that could be slightly confusing reading opposite things from what you thought was the same person.

Females dolling up procedure

...something something i have no frigging idea

erm....

i would say most of the items you've listed should be something that a woman does/buys without having to be asked.

also, you're trying to whiteknight, yet objectify women with that one post more than other guys who say that they like it when their woman takes pride in her appearance...

@veggirl

PS - And lol @ shaving. Thats a big cultural thing. Some cultures dont make a big stink over being shaved in the armpits, legs, and pubic region all the time. Thats something that sprouted up in the early 20th century.

Funny how times change.

Do you enjoy feminine body hair? Just asking.

I never thought I would see a male feminist.

So if a guy feels women should be treated as equally to men, hes a feminist? Sure...sounds good.

I dont mind it at all. EVERYONE has natural body hair. And for me, real women have pubic hair. Im a fan of how women looked in porn before the late 90s boom of bald vaginas.

..........

Charlie, it is NOWHERE near that expensive if you do it right. No woman has to get plucked or get highlights. Please read, for example, my posts....light make up, it's cheap.

I mean you want hours in the gym but 10 min on make up is somehow offensive. That's goofy. I'm sure part of why you work out is cause it makes you look better. I wear make up cause it also makes me look better. So what's the difference? and also, my tinted moisturizer does have health benefits as it moisturizes my skin ;):D It's all good......you may like hairy and unkempt "natural" women and that's cool but I'm sure you wouldn't dump a chick for putting on eyeliner.

please stop.

women don't want to be equal to men when it comes to appearance.

(apart from croc wearing dykes, but i don't know about that first-hand)

Its not about time and effort.

Read my posts again. I dont think its fair for double standards to be placed on either gender.

Fitness is something both men and women should be doing. Double standards for height exist against men, while double standards exist against women when it comes to beauty.

They both stink. Not because of effort...but because of double standards.

Follow me now>?

I can't believe the topic of makeup had turned into an ideological debate.

I don't see the problem here. OP is high-maintenance, the girl is not so much. Incompatibility in this area. Doesn't mean incompatibility overall.

I can't believe some people feel so strongly about this topic.

Youre reading comprehension is lacking. I didnt say women should look equal to men.

Im saying they deserve equal treatment. I assure you from my time on this forum and from living life, that the vast majority of women wish they had the luxury men have in not constantly being subjected to harsher beauty standards.

You're picking a scab that doesn't even exist.

Am I?

Im responding to someone who called me a feminist. I didnt pick anything that didnt exist.

I think most people are just having a problem with kaylan's line of reasoning. Unfortunately, poor op got forgotten a long time ago. :)

You and me both .

For the women who like makeup, I'm sure they could give a rat's ass about a double standard :lmao:. For the women who don't - well, I encourage them not to wear it if they don't like. I think there should be a representation of women who don't wear makeup in media, but that doesn't mean I think makeup is bad at all. It just is.

The overreactions in this thread have been highly amusing though

I merely stated a double standard existed (fact), and that I hoped OP liked to dress up and stuff too. I made a short initial post in this thread...and apparently someone else felt strongly enough to get into a larger discussion with me about it.

*kanye shrug*
