Looking for love, when maybe I shouldn't....

As some of you know, I recently was in a relationship for 4 years and she broke it off, said she was unhappy and wanted to be single. I was talking to someone else, but we decided to be friends. I would like to find someone else, but is it too soon. If I'm even considering it, did I love her as much as I thought I did?

I know a lot of people would say they are looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right Now, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm looking for Mrs. Right, my soulmate, the woman of my dreams, the one I'm gonna wake up too for the rest of my life. I thought my ex was that one, but I guess she felt otherwise. Am I wrong to try to move on so soon?

You're not wrong, if you feel that you're ready. However, if you're looking to find a Ms. Right, or even someone that will be as compatible with you as your ex was, then chances are that you won't find it right away, or with the first person who strikes your interest.

I've dated around a bit now since I broke up with the ex... nothing serious, but I have become sexually active again. I still think about the ex constantly, but it was her decision, so am I supposed to ignore the fact that other people find me attractive, or just sit there in my room all day on the weekends and wallow in my own self pity?

So go ahead, date around, if you feel that you're ready. Just try not to bring up the ex on your new dates... they don't want to hear about it, and they're not your therapists. Meeting someone new won't always mean that you will forget about your ex, or that it will make the pain go away. It hasn't for me, but I think that meeting new people shouldn't be viewed as a crime. I had my first date probably two months after she broke it off with me... and after I had tried to show her that I still cared about her more than anything else.

No one can be as shy as me Sweet P, and I don't go out hardly any. I go to work and when I'm not at work I usually have my son, and when I don't have him I"m usually resting, lol
