always sick ... :(

Recommended Posts

I'm on here mainly to vent but if you guys have any useful information that would be awesome too!

Alright- so pretty much since November I have been sick more than I haven't been sick. I have had flu like symptoms and it's kicking my ass over and over. I sound like a boy going through puberty right now and I am a 25 year old woman- it sucks!

Also something else that has been happening since somewhat around that time- even earlier actually more like september... is that I have been having my period about every other week. Sometimes they last a week long also... and it's weird because I'm not having the normal symptoms I normally have associated with a period like breast tenderness or hard core cramps (but I did have a surgery earlier this year to help with my cramps because I have both PCOS and Endometriosis and we removed some endometrial growths on my fallopian tubes and since then my cramps have been a cake walk to handle in comparison to before)

What is so odd is that I very rarely had a period before so the fact that it started out of nowhere sucks and I didn't make any changes in my birth control or anything.

I've been to doctors and they don't see anything wrong in my blood tests and when they did a sonogram in my womanly parts.

I'm just really frustrated because having my period so frequently while dating someone new is really embarassing on top of the fact that I've been sick so much. I am tempted to end things with this guy just so that I don't have to see him react to my being sick or having a period AGAIN (it's just a casual dating thing anyways). I just hate that I feel like it's getting in the way of my social life and soon with school starting tomorrow it will also probably get in the way of my schooling and work because it makes me feel crummy so often and wears me out.

I don't know what to do. I'm drinking my fluids... I eat well. I take care of myself.

I'm just sick of being sick :'(

You could be anemic (due to lowered iron) if you have periods that often. Not sure if you have had that checked? That would also make you more tired and easier to get colds/flus...

I once had really heavy periods for two years straight with not a day off, had anaemia and took meds for it, but the doctor gave me mefenamic acid to stop the bleed, then I had a Mirena coil fitted and no more periods and no problems with it since. Not sure if this is an option due to endo and PCOS, but might be worth discussing with your doctor. Hope you are feeling better soon x

Thanks so much for responding!

I have have blood work done multiple times this year and I never turned out to be anemic- but my doc a couple of months ago wanted me to get a test done to see if my blood cells intake iron correctly; i have yet to do this test mainly because the school was closed/ I was out of town. I will do it within the next week or two now...and really although I have been having frequent periods they generally haven't been extremely heavy and most of them have resembled old blood so I would think the blood which means my recent iron levels may not have been affected whatsoever.

As far as thyroid goes my test results have come back normal and while the most recent doctor didn't physically feel my thyroid area in my throat I do not have any abnormal enlargement of the area that would indicate hyperthyroidism.

I have been wondering if like two of my aunts I have lupus possibly- but I know it is very difficult to diagnose.

Also I have considered getting my room tested to see if there is a mold that could be affecting me- but I felt sick for a couple weeks at my sister's house even when I wasn't around my room whatsoever... so this makes me doubt mold as a possible cause.

again- thank you for responding! it helps to know that i am heard...
