jefflaw
I've researched online and find conflicting methods. I'm typically a skinny guy, 6'1" around 165 but I have flab around my belly. I eat really healthy, Nothing processed or high in fat...I try and walk a lot (stay active, use the stairs) but don't use weights as much as i'd like or crunches or push ups for that matter People always tell me that i'm skinny, I can fake it sure, but when you look closer, i'm flabby plain and simple. I was overweight around 6 years ago and exercised to get the weight off but always kinda stayed a little flabby. My chest and tummy need some work. I just need to do something to burn away the flab, Any ideas? Will weights and crunches do it?
SmileFace
Lift heavy stuff. That is the only way Or surgery. Especially since you lost weight. It may be more loose skin than flab.
fortyninethousand322
Lift. Also you could try going low/no carb. You'll have to up the fat (good fats like olive oil and stuff like that) to train your body to burn fat instead of carbs. But, since you're 6'1" 165 lbs maybe just try lifting. One of the biggest mistakes people make is not doing some weight lifting.
Mr Scorpio
Burning fat requires attention to your workout routine and especially your diet. Aim to hit the gym at least five times per week. Include weight-lifting and cardio in your workouts. While targeting your abs will strengthen your core, helping to prevent bad form and injuries, performing ab exercises will not specifically burn fat from your gut. You don't have to lift heavy weights to burn fat. "All" you have to do is burn more calories than you take in. Your real benefit will come less from the calories you burn by lifting and more from the kick to your metabolism. As for your diet, make sure you eat at least five times per day. Nothing processed. Bowls of brown rice with chicken/shrimp/tilapia are your friend. Also, drink a gallon of water per day, not counting any water you might drink while you're at the gym. Do you see his stats - he is more than likely skinny fat than actually fat. He needs to build muscle. The last thing he needs to do is lose weight as I see it. He needs to eat more and lift heavy. What he is saying is flab is more than likely loose skin - he needs to lift to help full that out.
Emilia
Will weights and crunches do it? Heavy weights (dead lifts, shoulder press), crunches, planks, interval running, general high intensity stuff.
Author jefflaw
Thanks All, I'm gonna start on the weights with care at first and work my way up. Makes sense, I do need some resistance training and some tummy work can only help some minor back pain I get from time to time. It's probably due to a week core. Appreciate all the replies

I agree and thanks for clarifying, I wasn't HUGE I was just out of shape when I was overweight...only about 12 LBS. Like I said, I do zero strength training, never did a lot of weights in my exercise, I was always just a runner. And one point you made rings true to me in the fact that I'd really hate to lose MORE weight.... I could benefit from weights I'm sure, makes sense.
