iouaname
So I went away to school last semester and did not enjoy it all that much. I had a lot going on at home, so I would travel home quite a bit. I also was in a relationship last semester, so I never really stepped outside of the bubble to meet people at school or find things that I enjoyed. I went back to school this week and had a horrific experience. I think that it was a combination of the end of the relationship and having to readjust, but I'm suffering from really severe panic attacks and anxiety, as well as depression. I only made it three days before I had to return home for the first weekend. I go back tomorrow and I'm just looking for some advice on how to be there and not be so miserable? I try to focus on school work, I try to go out with my roommates and do things but I feel miserable while I am, and I've gone to the counseling center and begun therapy. I'm thinking about spending some more time at the recreation center as well, to get some exercise and such. It's just so hard
pie2
iouaname (that's a funny name!) - Even in an ideal world, going off to school is nerve-wracking, stressful and challenging. Given everything you've gone through, it's not at all surprising that you feel down at times . I think you should take some pressure off of yourself, because it's completely natural to have some anxiety related to all of the changes you've gone through. It sounds like you are trying to do all of the right things to keep yourself busy, and healthy (going out, therapy, exercise). Just take each day as it comes. And try to shift your focus off of what you think you are lacking (old home, old relationship, old situation), and focus your thoughts on all of the positives you have in your life. For example, some positives could include the fact that you're getting your degree, you're smart, and your life is full of possibility. Also, do you go to church, or have a spiritual faith? Don't worry iou...and just take one day at a time. If you keep your focus in the right place, I guarantee that you'll see a difference, in time
