My first LDR

Recommended Posts

Greetings everyone.

Last December, I've met a girl that almost instantly felled in love with.

I can't explain how or why, but I was alone for about 4 years, after a long relation that ended with a lot of lies and betrayal. For a long time I was fragile and insecure, and the last thing I wanted was another relation. But destiny makes it's own rules, and I met this women.

Since then we talk, everyday, on the phone, 4 to 5 times a day. Sometimes we spend more than 4 hours on the phone at night.

At this moment, we are 186 miles apart from each other. We have been together two times since Christmas. But soon it will change...

Next Sunday, we are going to meet, again, and try to decide what we should do. She lives and works 1.060 miles away from me.

We are so different in many aspects, but at the same time we feel that we complete each other.

I've never been in this situation, and I know Skype and email will let us keep in touch. But i'm scared. I know I have the strength to keep this relation, but I'm afraid of going crazy.

Thank you for reading this, I felt I needed "talk" to someone.

Best regards

Just take it one step at a time, if both of you are really committed, you can make it work and the most important thing is trust, without trust, the relationship will go no where.

Good luck!

Can you expand on this, please?

Anyone in a LDR has to have a high tolerance for frustration.

One can learn to manage feelings of missing the other by engaging in personally meaningful pursuits/hobbies/goals.

Likewise, regular contact can help lessen the pain, as can creative expressions of your love (gift giving, letter writing, video making).

But nothing bolsters spirits and ignites a relationship quite like having an end plan to work towards.

So, I'm glad you're having a conversation soon, and take heart : many of us are thousands of miles away from our SOs but are making it work.

You likely can too. :)

Thank you very much for your kind words.

We had a great day. It was raining like hell all day, from 10am until 10pm, the time we spent together. We walked a lot (we met in a Town that was new to each other), we got soaked, it was freezing, we got so cold, but we were so happy all the time. We hold our hands every single minute, we had a great lunch, and we talked for hours.

It's official and we are both happy that we have found each other.

My fears kind of fade away, after that day.

We have talked for hours on the phone, and next weekend we will be together again. It might be the last time until she parts.

We have plans to get married. I know it's going so fast, but it feels so right...

Thank you once again!

Awwwww, I'm so glad to see such a turn-around in your spirits. :)

LDRs seem especially susceptible to these ups and downs, so bravo to you for weathering the latest.

Keep the contact going; have fun with finding new ways to connect; and ride the rocky waves when they come.

All will be well.

Have a great Valentines day!

>>cerridwen, thank you SO much for your warm and kind words.

In less than 24 hours we will be with each other again, and I'm counting every single minute.

Hi everyone.

Just a quick update.

We spent one year apart. I went to Germany to visit her 3 times.

After that, I rented a place, and she moved in with me.

After a year, I found out she was cheating on me, for a long time.

She leaved home, and left a note saying She's sorry.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

Cheers
