Tip to everyone planning to apply for partner visas

Recommended Posts

I just counted how many photos we have and I think there are plenty :D

I'm glad!

Still, sound advice. I'll prob need to apply for a similar visa if our plans keep going like they are.

I hope your visa is applied soon!

HOW do people get so many photos of themselves without doing the backwards-cam trick anyway? Proper photos, from a distance.

Do they carry tripods around with them and set the timer?

Or ask someone to help them out everywhere they go?

Need... moar.. photos... :(

In our case it is still kind of traditional that there is a chaperone around, even if said chaperone is an infant. It also helped that I interacted with her extended family, as seen in photo attachment xyz. Also if there was an outfing it tends to be a party with family and friends, not just the two of us seeing the sghts.. If we had needed more photos I could have been arrested in her country for producing porn because there was nowhere left to go.

I saw her cousins package who married and came over. It look like they had a professional portrait photographer following them around on every trip.

I have to say, amidst all the hustle and bustle of getting the app ready... I loved loved loved the letter my bf wrote about me for the submission. He doesn't often express his affections verbally, more through affectionate gestures and caring acts - but when he does, I get FLOORED.:love:

I want to get him to write that to me again but I don't know how! It's such a pity that he hates writing...

I always tell my boyfriend we need to take more pictures together... I think we do have quite a few now since we took many, many pictures when he was still studying here in London with me, thankfully. I'll keep this piece of advice in mind!!

Wouldn't it be easier to get married?

Depending upon the nations involved you run into the same problems with their respective spousal visas. Being engaged , betrothed or married makes little difference in how the immigration agents do their investigation.

10 photos in 3 years? whoa. And I thought I had it bad when I was in a 6-month-long LDR. We only had 1 pic together. And not because I didn't want to take any , or didnt' bring it up, but because my ex didn't want us to take more. Anyway, the only pic we have together (he did take pics of me, and I of him -- though he was more reluctant when I took his pics, than the other way around), was taken by him stretching his arm and holding the camera. It does work for portraits, but if you want to show that you did things together, etc., then it might be better to take photos from a bit farther away... Either that, or make sure the camera timestamps the date/time (and a correctly-set one) on the photo itself... so that you have pics to show from different dates.

Absolutely right, here.

We did have more, but phones got lost, computers reformatted, etc. The 10 were from the previous year alone - which are all that matter to immigration here anyway. Admittedly 10 in a year is probably still a little on the low side. I understand why immigration would want proof, but it's a little silly to expect everyone to go trigger-happy with cameras when they're in a R IMO. When we're together and having fun I just want to soak it all in and live in the moment, not fuss about who to ask to take the photos for us, where to take them, how I look, camera settings, etc.

It is what it is, though, so we do make an effort to take photos now whenever we go out, even if it puts a bit of a dampener on things sometimes.

why should the immigration officers care about your pics.

Pyro, carhill, and my posts pretty much explain that if you read them.

Because they were doing this in a pre photshop era when all you had besides your word was pictures. Some government agents expect you to lie when the prize is leaving your hell hole and entering their garden of Eden.

In the post photoshop era when people carry cameras on them 24/7 they still expect the photographic evidence as it is all they have to back up your word. They don't have the time nor resources to interview people who saw you together, and those people may be in another country and ignore their governmental badge, identification and authority.

I know what you mean. I love taking pictures, I'm into photography a lot but more the artsy kind... I'm not much into touristy look-where-weve-been pictures. I prefer living the moment rather than putting a camera between me and the moment.

Lots of the pictures I take are with a film camera because I went through the same thing and lost a bunch of pictures once that were very dear to me. So I changed to film... again, haha. It's a bit pricey now and a bit of a hassle but at least you have the print straight away and you don't lose them just because you click the wrong button. I must sound like an old lady :D
