Done with terrible second job!

Recommended Posts

My husband I recently just quit working for a small business owner who paid under the table. She was okay at the beginning, but after awhile, she was emailing, texting and calling around the clock about petty things. (Last night even about a facebook typo) When she was away, the power went out and my husband went over there to do some work while the power was out and when he told her, she yelled at him for "leaving it like that" and expected him to know to mess with the circuit breaker. I'm sorry, but I would not tamper with someone else's electrical in their house since I would not know what I am doing. What do you do when the power goes out? Wait for it to come back on or call it in! She would continue to be like that with other projects as well. Give us little instructions and the complain because she assumed "we already knew what to do". It got to the point where she was trying to find any reason possible to dock our pay (when she already wasn't paying much to begin with for the workload she had given us). She also knows I have a 30 hour a week job and sometimes even called me while I was at my other job. We both quit today and then she threatened to take back our paychecks if we did not send her some file within two hours. If she ever does anything like that I will take it to the labor board right awayand file another complaint with BBB. She talks about how poorly we performed and how we weren't professional, but threatening to take back someone's pay for hours of work they performed is professional? Another good example of this, is she wanted my husband to wait for a delivery for 4 hours and expected him to find some work to do while waiting (she did not tell him this until after). She refused to pay him after she had him wait hours to sign for a delivery. Time is money and if you have someone wait to sign for something, you need to pay them for their time. We are financially strapped again, but we were under a considerable amount of stress and being docked quite a bit of pay, so it ended up not being worth it in the end.
