Breathe
What is the best method for getting rid of unwanted hair? We shave in the morning and the hair is growing back by the evening. AUGH!! Such work to be beautiful!!! Do you have a favorite type of razor, cream or wax? What do you find that works best to keep your skin the smoothest for the longest amount of time? I'm looking for input here as I get frustrated having to tackle this DAILY!
goodnbad
All I can say is....GOOD LUCK! I would love to find something that works well, too. I usually just use those SensorExcel razors, 'cause electric ones don't shave as close. I've tried most of the lotion/mousse/cream hair removers (Nair, Neet, etc.) and find they don't work well and much of the hair remains. Plus, it is a PITA to have to not rub any of it off while it works; you end up waddling around like a duck! Someone mentioned before that Veet works good but I can't vouch for it myself, never tried it. My guess is that it would be comparable to the other lotions, though. I would loooove to be able to afford laser hair removal. I would do it in a minute if but for the cash. You can try regular electrolysis, but my brief experience with it (a free demo) was that it is extremely time consuming and painful. The laser, which I also had a free demo of, is hardly uncomfortable at all. You didn't mention if this was leg hair or other.....if it is other, such as on your arms or face, you could also try bleaching. I bleach my lower arms on occasion, 'cause I can't stand to see even faint hairs there, but I can accept it if it's bleached and pretty much invisible. Hopefully you can find something that works well for you! goodnbad
goodnbad
Oh I forgot to mention those 'shave/hair reduction' creams. The ones that are supposed to reduce the amount of time you have to shave, the claim being that the hair will come in finer and grow slower? I tried both the Curel and Jergens brands for more than the required time in the directions even, and neither one of them worked for me at all. A big waste of money, IMO. goodnbad
Honesty
It's better to get wax regardless of where it is that you want to get rid of hair. You don't have to worry the day after about hair starting to grow and in my case it grows back smoother.
Mr Spock
Waxing, like shaving, can cause ingrown hairs as it breaks the folicle below the surface of the skin, allowing for it to grow into the skin instead of up (ingrown hairs) Delipratory creams (sic) won't give you bumps, but won't last as long as waxing. Shaving is the quickest and cheapest method. Electrolysis can be painful, and requires multiple sessions and isn't good for large areas. Laser hair removal? Anyone tried that? You'd have to be careful on exposure to sunlight afterwards....google it. I actually find the aveeno lotion that claims to make the hair grow in slower works. You have to use it for quite a while-as with any skin product the more you use it, the more beneficial it is for your skin (unlike shampoo, where it pays to swap around every so often) I leave the hair on my forearms alone, as I think people with no hair look ratlike. Then again, I don't have to deal with gorilla hair there either.
