Bad Day with Baby

Hi all, I could use some encouragement. I'm having a rough day. My baby is six months old. Monday he's having surgery but he's had the sniffles the past couple of days so I'm not sure if that's going to happen. He's spit up epically twice today already...I'm on my third pair of pants. Last night my H said he needs a vacation...when he's traveled for work twice in the past two months while I stayed home. I know it's work travel vs fun travel, but I'm kind of resentful of that because we tended to travel a lot before baby...nine months is the longest I've gone without getting on a plane in years. Plus in the past I would've gone with my H on these trips. I quit my job before baby because it was a temp job, and I thought I could pick up some freelance work with all the people I know, but everyone is like "I don't have anything now." And finally I've been counting my calories and doing freaking Jillian Michaels workouts 3-4x a week and my weight loss is going SO SLOW, I am still 15 pounds over my PP weight.

I guess I am just having a bad day and feeling sorry for myself and I know it will get better...he's a really good baby...but it's hard to see right now.

Hang in there! There are definitely days like those and a baby changes your life so drastically, it takes quite a while to get used to it. While you are envying your husband getting to be a "real" person out there in the world, I wouldn't be surprised if he envies you for getting to be closest to your baby. Also, fifteen pounds ain't nothing! What helped me was getting out of the damn house. Preferably getting someone to take the baby for a couple of hours but if not, take the baby with you. Go visiting, go to the mall, out of the house every day so you get to remember it's a big beautiful world out there and yes, believe it or not, you are still a part of it! Also, if it helps, remember there are absolutely zillions who would give anything to get to have a precious little baby of their own and get to stay home with him/her. :) Best wishes!

**Hugz** Bittersweetie, things will get better.

Have you tried peddling your wares online at places like

E lance or 99*designs.. not trying to advertise so I put it all in quotes
or some other webpage that puts freelancers in the marketplace where people can find them ?

My wife does that and used it to help center herself or keep her sanity as it were.. she is a graphic designer and became a SAHM 5 years ago.

I'll be thinking about you and your baby.. sending good vibes for the surgery on the little guy...

Let us know how it goes and how you are doing....

I'm sorry your baby needs surgery. I really hope everything goes well.

It's hard being a new mom. All day every day it's baby baby baby. But it only lasts a short time. In six months time he will be up and running around and you will be chasing him and then there goes your baby weight.

Try to enjoy this time now. It really does fly by.

Thank you for your kind words and suggestions. I am feeling a bit better after we both had a two hour nap. :) We do have someone come for a few hours a week which helps a lot, though if I can't find work that will have to end. And usually I do go outside with him daily but it's been very cold and windy all week and I was trying to prevent him from getting sick.

I know this time is brief in the grand scheme of things...in a year or two I will probably be back at work wishing I was home with my boy! I think a lot of it is the stress from the surgery and, as it turns out, that time of the month. ;)

Thanks again!

My baby threw up in my mouth once. He likes to press his face against my face and I had turned my head to kiss him and...yeah...

So, just keep your chin up. lol
