rockstarmusician
This morning when I woke up, I had the worst headache I've ever had! It almost felt like a migraine, but I don't think it was. It seemed to only cover my left side of my head. I took 3 extra strength Motrin's and those seemed to help. But man alive, I've never had a headache like that. Does anyone know what type that would be?
Matilda
Headaches that are only on one side of your head, are usually migraines I think. http://health.rutgers.edu/brochures/headaches.htm
Author rockstarmusician
I read some of that and the part of, "Possible causes include allergy or sensitivity to particular foods, odors, alcoholic beverages (especially red wines), or caffeine. Other possible triggers include premenstrual status, oral contraceptive pills, bright lights, motion, noise and stress." I've been sneezing a lot lately (probably allergies from outside). It does make sense. Ah, damn, migraine it is then! I read some parts where it says that it causes vomiting, etc but I didn't really feel like that. It felt like my head was gonna explode. My parents were downstairs and them talking was quite loud to me.
moimeme
A headache that is much worse than any you've ever had before can be a signal of something quite dangerous. You should see a doctor. Do you have any of the following symptoms that require emergency treatment? Call 911 or other emergency services immediately. Sudden, severe pain ("the worst headache I've ever had") http://my.webmd.com/hw/migraines/hw93963.asp
goodnbad
I agree with moimeme, see your doctor if it's the first time you've had such a headache, God forbid it should be an aneurism or something! But I also find that 'sleeping in' causes bigtime headaches for me, sadly. So I try to avoid doing that if I can help it.....but going to bed earlier is okay. Did you wake up and then go back to sleep? Or do you have a lot of sleep disturbances? That could be the reason. I get migraines a lot, not one-sided, but yes, some migraines do occur only on one side. I would see your doctor. goodnbad
