I've been shy all my life, its only really now its starting to become a burden. I'm mildly autistic so I guess that has something to do with it. I'm 20 year old male at university, hence why being shy is starting to be a burden, as I should be going out there talking to new people!

I'm fine if someone else starts speaking to me, I'm fine having a conversation with employees in shops etc but I can't approach people, its like I have a block that stops me, I can't really approach people with friends really unless they push me into it. I'm fine approaching friends and starting conversations, it seems when I'm comfortable with said person I'm alright. Even when I'm drunk, I'm too shy to approach people and start talking.

Its frustrating atm, because a hot girl on my course started talking to me last Monday, she seems to be in my small group tutorials and lives on the same campus (in halls about 30 seconds walk from my building.) I was fine talking to her (we spoke for about 30 minutes or so) but days after I couldn't go and start a conversation with her.

If anyone has any advice on how to overcome my shyness and approach people, I'd be really appreciative!

Complimeny something they are wearing...a ring, jewelry or red purse...etc. Practice with that on anyone...old ladies, guys, girls whatever.

Then when you feel comfortable prolong the convo and say somehing like 'where r u from?'..then a convo.will start.

If they look impatient politely end the convo. If they are intereated they will keep convo going.
