katie79
Does anyone believe in psychics here? Did anyone ever see one and what they said happened?? If so, does anyone know of any good ones, other than John Edwards? Is anyone on here psychic? If so how do visions of the future come to you?
Tony Posted September 9, 2004 Senior Moderators Share Posted September 9, 2004 I believe the world is multidimensional and there are many frequencies about which we are unaware. There are some very legitimate people with incredible intuitive abilities. Many children have these but lose them after being discouraged by skeptical parents. Early in human evolution, intuition was extremely important for survival. I think other animals are intuitive as well, at least on some level, and can feel danger ahead even when it is not readily apparent.
DerangedAngel
I don't believe in psychics. And John Edwards is not a "good one". That's all. -DA
JumpRun
The following were my experiences and things I've witnessed with my two eyes: - As a sick boy (age anywhere from 6 to 8) with a really bad case of the flu or something similiar - I prayed to God to help me feel better. When I opened my eyes, I saw figures of what I then perceived as angels......all dressed the same......purple robes. The apperitions "ms?" faded within a few seconds.......I began to feel better. - At the age of 17, my uncle, my mother's brother, passed away with cancer in his 40's. My mother and my uncle shared an extremely close bond basically all of their lives.......they were extremely close to one another. Within a week, maybe less, I was awakened during the night as I was sleeping lightly anyway. My bedroom was across the hall from my parent's room. I don't know why, but I looked into my parents room and saw my uncle standing by the side of the bed looking at my mother sleep. - At the age of 17, working a construction job that summer, I experienced two things at the house we were building that were also witness by the rest of the crew. We were laying out "wall plates" for the 2 X 4 studs to be nailed onto to construct the 2nd floor exterior wall for one of the bedrooms toward the rear of the house. The rear of the house, where we were, was the equavilent "ms?" of three stories as the rear of the basement was completely dug out and concrete poured as a patio "floor". These "plates" were much longer than the average 2 X 4 used as studs. When I was placing one down at the edge of the floor, an end was falling off the house and stupidly I held on to the other end while standing on the edge. The swinging/falling 2 X 4 pulled my body off and away from the house with my feet actually having left the floor. Out of the "blue" it felt as if a pair of hands grabbed me on the back of the shirt and placed me back on the floor. The rest of the crew stood there speechless and in disbelief in what they just witnessed. - At that same house, after the framing was completed, drywalling was done.....the interior doors were hung.........I would walk toward these doors and they would open for me and close behind me........that happened several times that day. Not only was the crew speechless this time, they were spooked. - At the age of 24, I was a young soldier whose name came up on the "duty roster" to be on perimeter guard that night in the field. Fire missions were "haulted" for a couple of hours......overall things were quiet (noise discipline), the air was crisp and the stars out. It was a beautiful night/morning. Approximately at 2:00 a.m. 0200 hours or a little thereafter, I felt something looking at me from behind - a presence - I quickly, holding my M-16, swung around and dropped to one knee, there I saw - just a few feet away from me - a WWII era soldier, with his rifle, leaning on a tree smiling at me. Once I looked at the "soldier" I felt a peace like I have never experienced in my life. A few seconds later, he faded away. Background of location - post for sometime now is no longer an active duty post.......it's primary use is for tactical training by not only active duty soldiers but reserve component ones as well. This was a huge WWII training post where soldiers were trained, shipped out and returned. My understanding is quite a few returning soldiers died there as well after returning under the care of military doctors and nurses when returned to the States badly injured......must have been a cluster of medical/troop facilities as opposed to a large hospital. - I'm guessing I was at the age of 31 or 32, still as a soldier but as an NCO, I was returning "home" after a period of TDY "Temp Duty" out of State......approximately a 1000 miles away. My mode of travel chosen was POV "personally own vehicle" as the purpose of my travel was not that of a tactical nature.....for a change lol. I was anxious to see my wife and kids and decided to drive straight through stopping for only gas and coffee........I've done this before on a couple of other occaisions with no problems. I had been driving all day and all that night......it was between 2:00 and 4:00 in the morning and I was having a difficult time staying awake. After having fighting it long enough, I prayed to God asking him to help me stay awake, become more alert and stay safe. I then (well, I never really took my eyes off the road) saw a figure standing on the hood of my truck......this figure either resembled an angel or a beautiful young lady (from rear view), leaning to the front a bit looking down the highway as if leading me. I was then fully alert and continued seeing this figure for a few miles......not many. The angel or "woman" was wearing a robe(s) purple and white....whatever the other article was and "she" had long hair, blowing in the wind.........I could see right through her. I just recently learned that this figure was "my guide who had revealed herself only this once". - Still in my 30's, I was taking a shower late one Saturday afternoon after having mowed the lawn. I was washing and then felt a painful sensation on my chest......I wasn't even washing my chest at that moment. Something felt amissed. It was stinging and burning........I didn't know what to make of it. After my shower and getting out to dry off, I took a look at my chest and saw what appeared to be three deep "clawing" or scratching marks. I showed my wife.......she turned pale and told me it looks as I had been clawed. There are other experiences........the above are "highlights" so to speak.
loveregardless
I very much believe in psychics and in spirits of all kinds. Certain people have innate natural abilities in this area, and in indeed most children are open to the idea as they have no learned yet to be otherwise. My boyfreinds mother and her sisters and my boyfriend, all have some power on some level. I know they they are not lying or imagining things, it is very real. My boyfreind has always been afraid of such occurances so he blocks most of them out, but his mother is very "sensitive" to such things. I could tell you many stories about her experiances with passed on spirits, and her sisters with out of body experiances (completely by accident mind you), but that would take way too long. one story that proves that certain powers are just innate, and that children are more open to them than adults is this. when my boyfreind was 3 he awoke and told his mother that his gaurdian angel had come to see him. he was very young and could not have known anything about "gaurdian angels" at the time. His mother was quite alarmed and asked him why he thought it was his guardian angel and he said that he saw her floating above his bed (described her as a little girl with brown hair) and said that he asked her who she was and she told him "I am your Guardian angel" and that was all. My boyfreind still remmebers this even from when he was 3 very vividly and his mother is positive that there is no other way that he would have come up with the idea that this girl he was "dreaming" about was his "gaurdian angel", other than that she had told him so. Fayebelle
My uncle knew my great gradmother died before anyone told him. I've had premonitions and I knew my little cousin was born before anyone told me. (my uncle and I told our mothers before they had heard the news) I can read Tarot cards- I can see ghosts (sometimes)- I go to an AMAZING psychic who is dead on but most of that is personal so forgive me if I don't list examples. IMHO- John Edwards sucks but I like that woman on Montel Williams.
JumpRun
John Edwards has been exposed as a "fraud"..........he's not too shabby relative to cold readings thus his run of sucesss. The lady you're talking about - Sylvia Brown?

tiki
I don't believe in psychics. My religion considers it a big no-no. Of course, my religion considers a lot of things condemning, but I still manage to do it anyway. Oh well, at least I try...but no, not at all. I wouldn't go near a psychic/fortune teller/palm reader. I do believe that things have a way of happening if you expect them to, or have been told that it'd go a certain way.

Fayebelle
Don't forget Miss Cleo:lmao: Closure is good- but I'm not sure how much I trust someone who has built an empire on their gift. Most people I know who are sensitive either 1- have NO control on what they see or 2- have to have some type of personal contact w/the "client"- Therefore I'm a bit leary of phone and tv psychics. loveregardless
I certainly think that people who are seeking fame and fortune in extremist ways (like Edwards) for their gifts are either full of it or are otherwise exploting and taking advantage of people. I do believe that certain people are very psychic/claircoyant/clairsient, etc. Noting my boyfreinds family, and things that I have read, those abilities are highly heriditary. I believe that I may be slightly clairsient, which is supposed to mean that I'm much more emotionally "sensitive" than others. I can FEEL things that can't really be explained. I suppose it could be described as extreme empathy for everything/everyone. And I've been practicing trying to cultivate my "powers" by practicing having OBE and seeing people's auras, etc. But for those who aren't born with these natural abilities, they are much harder to "learn". But everything I've read says that everyone can develope thier own powers, and eventually everyone can learn, we've just been taught our whole lives that THIS WORLD that we can touch is the only REAL WORLD. We have shut those parts of our brains off since early childhood when we were discouraged for having "imaginary friends" or "deja vu". I wish so badly that I had natural abilities like the ones yall are describing and like my boyfreinds family has.
Fayebelle
Would you really want to wake up to your grandmother telling you she just died? I too have your "empathy" insights (not sure what to call that) -I know what friends and fam are feeling on a very personal level- but have you ever looked at a stranger and KNOWN their pain so much that it physically hurts you? I put myself too far into other people's shoes- I bawled like a baby at Nutty Professor b/c I thought it was so mean. A lot of movies are "emotionally off limits" to me b/c they get me so distraught I have headaches and can't sleep (Schindler's List- 2 day migraine!). It's a gift if you have control but even then there are things people just should not have to see for someone else. I think I've suppressed a lot of mine w/age- it is hard to face. lioness
I believe that people have natural psychic abilities. I read tarot cards for myself and my friends, I've seen spirits, ghosts, whatever you want to call them, and I have some crazy dreams... One example of a dream I had: It was on 9-11, and while the attacks on the WTC were happening, I was still asleep in bed (west coast) and I was dreaming that I was a little girl again, in my old hometown and standing in the driveway of my grandmother's house (who had just passed away a few months ago). Anyway, my grandmother was pointing to two huge, tall buildings far off in the distance... and I was shocked to see that these buildings were on fire, and I was SO sad, and crying, and she was trying to comfort me. I felt like my legs had been taken out from under me, I thought the world was coming to an end. I had never felt a sorrow so great before. The dream ended because my then husband came and woke me up with "Hey! You have GOT to come see what's on TV! Get up!" And I went out to the TV to see my dream... the same buildings... the same fires.
Fayebelle
I just read an awesome book about mediums- it's fiction - very suspensful and I recommend it to anyone interested in paranormal Violet Eyes http://www.randomhouse.com/bantamdell/violet_eyes/
YellowLioness
I think that people have been psychic for a long time, but that no one wants to admit it. The prophets themselves took messages from God, and that's how we got the bible. That's psychic. I have these little flashes of the future, but I won't realize that I have them until the scene happens. Some people call it deja vu, but its more then that for me because I actually see the scene in my head. Its not just that it feels familliar. I think that if people used more of their brain, that we'd all be psychic. Actually, I think there was a time in the very distant past where people could and did use much more of their brain then we do now. There are so many pieces of history missing, that its entirely possible.
HokeyReligions
I think the whole thing is how the human species has chosen to categorize things that are not understood and I think that 100% of psychics are fake. Psychic phenomena is no more than the unidentified parts of the human brain at work, or malfunctioning, when interpreting or creating sensations. Because we know so little about the brain, we don't understand these 'feelings' or intuition or whathaveyou, and we call it psychic phenomena. I don't believe that people are in touch with the dead, or can tell the future, or any of that nonsense. I 'foretold' a fire before it happened once. I had a vision of a fire and connected it to a place I knew were were going. I did the same with an auto accident once. I saw the intersection and crushed metal. In both cases I was right. We did not go to the place and we avoided that intersection and later learned that a fire had broken out and that there had been a wreck. Some part of my brain was sensing something and I interpreted it correctly. Most times we don't interpret it. Perhaps it is some kind of energy or force that is always present and we just do not know about it, or how to identify it, or if it is static or anything. Parts of our brains may pick up on this energy and trigger feelings or visions that we subconsciously or consciously interpret. Intuition is probably the closest term we have for it. So-called psychics are scams, capitalizing on human's ignorance of this process and using gullible human emotions to elicit money for their own pockets. That's my opinion on it. That said, the TV show Dead Zone is one of my favorites!
loveregardless
that EXACT thing used to happen to me when I was younger. It was like deja-vu, only I had very definite flashes of images that hadn't happened and would then realize when they indeed happened, that it was what I had seen before. It used to happen a lot, but then one day it just stopped. And I know what Faye means about "feeling" other peoples feelings so much that its physically painful, almost every emotion for me is physically painful. I even feel pain for animals and plants...everything. Emotionally gutwrenching movies make me have nightmares and sobb hysterically. I just saw that Nicole Kidman movie, "The Hours" and I seriously cried for the entire rest of the day. I have always been WAY WAY WAY too sensitive. I remember one time when I was really young, like 10, I was watching thr news and this reporter was interviewing KKK members and thier children and there was this little boy with his white robed father talking about how he knew that God hated all N-words, etc. I was so upset I just bawled and was telling my parents how awful it was that the little boy was going to be just like his daddy and hate everyone. When 911 happened, and mind you I didn't even know anyone who died, I went into such a severe depression that I cried myself to sleep everynight for months. I just couldn't get over the feeling of being suffocated by hate. I don't really know how to explain my "sensitivity" other than that. It's very much a burdon and a curse...but it's also what seperates us from the materialistic and superficial tide of human evolution. People in the past were very much psychic and "saw" things that we don't allow ourselves these days to experiance. Not just when considering the writing of the bible, but also when thinking of tales of fairies and giants and mermaids and angels and ghosts, etc. Even when considering ancient mythologies, you have to wonder if they weren't just much more open to their psychic abilities than we are now, and lacking the understanding of extrasensory perception that we have now, misinterpretations were surely a problem. I think a lot of the basics behind most religions, especially when considering Chritianity, came from trying to form "absolute truths" based on clairvoyant/calirsient experiances that people had where they "saw" different dieties, etc. Is any of this making any sense?! Hmm....anyways...that's my theory.

Barby
Sylvia Brown is a good example of a good psychic, (she's helped police located bodies/solves cases, ect) I don't know too much about John Edwards (I've heard he's a fake). I myself haven't had any "experiences" with guides, ghosts, or anything personally but someone that I know (not a friend just someone I was unfortunate enough to meet). Well this person along time ago eleven years ago (when he was 14 he's now 25) participated in raping a woman who was drinking with this guy (boy at the time) and his friends. He claimed things got "out of control" and well she ended up dying (no one really knows who did it, (the ones there know but obviously won't speak up) they were investigated but nothing came of it the mexican police sucked back then). Anyway about two years later is when it started, this guy would see a woman peering into his window at first all he saw was her eyes. She would stare at him accusingly (as he put it) and he didn't reconize her. This went on for awhile, then one night while he was walking home alone from the same group of friends' house he heard foot steps from behind him, he spun around and saw the same woman only this time he saw ALL of her and realized it was the same girl that was killed the night he and his friends did what they did. He said he took off running scared s***less but she kept right up with him. He was scared thinking it was his guilt, he assumed if he came to the US he could forget her, forget what they did to her and that he wouldn't see her anymore.... Well once here he started seeing her everywhere, sometimes looking in his review mirror he sees her (the 1st time he wrecked into a pole but came out un-injured). She peers into the house windows (in his room and the living room) at first he never told anyone until my soon to be brother-in law saw her and asked if he was crazy or if anyone else just saw that woman looking in the window.....they moved 2 and in all the places she continues to stare at him, follow him, the night that scared him the most was when he and my soon to be brother in-law were asleep one on one couch the other on the love seat (they said it was about 3am) my BF walked in and saw the woman bent over this guy staring him straight in the face with her hands spread out over his chest area (above but not touching him). His bro heard him come in, turned over and saw the lady too, he was scared so he made noise and she didn't leave right away she stayed for a few seconds until the other guy opened his eyes and jumped up then they all say she disappeared. Still to this day he says he sees her all the time but he's more used to it now. He deserves to be reminded everyday what they did or what he didn't try and stop (whichever the situation really is). But this is the only experience that I've heard of someone I know personally having.
