sonador_hermosa
i think those who are engaged should tell the story of how they proposed or how they were proposed to here's mine: me and dario met online, which is funny because my whole life i was always kind of skeptical about meeting someone from the net. but we met on a forum of a mutual interest of ours. he saw something i wrote on there and clicked the link to e-mail me to compliment me on what i had written. his first e-mail to me was so warm and friendly i just felt like this was someone i wanted to correspond with...hehehehehe...little did i know well, after a couple e-mails, we started talking real-time and when i told him where i was from, he told me about how his brother lived in the same town as me and he passed through my town a couple times a month! how's THAT for destiny?!! well, we talked on the phone for the first time on october 14th. that's our anniversary. we consider that our anniversary, because that's when we first really clicked and when we knew, despite not even having met in the flesh, that we were meant to be together. we talked for - i sh*t you not - 5 hours. it was then decided that we absolutely HAD to meet. we even said, "i love you," at the end of the conversation. we both said that it was kinda a little scary (in a good way, of course) but we knew it was right. sooooo, fast forward about a month after that, he came into town to visit me. me and two of my friends went to pick him up at the bus station. when i saw him standing there, the whole rest of the world dissapeared, and i nearly knocked him over when i ran up to him and tackled him with a hug and kisses. the whole ride home, we couldn't stop staring at each other and we were locked in an embrace like i've never felt before in my whole life i think he may have called his brother once while he was here, and his bro wasn't even home...hehehe. his brother is in graduate school and a pretty busy guy, so he's not always available. dario checked into a hotel, but i ended up making him come stay with me at my apartment after a couple days, but not before we had fun staying in the hotel and living like rockstars for a couple nights hehehe our visit was so wonderful, and dario fell in love with the town i call home. his apartment lease was up in february, and he decided he wanted to come live here because not only had he fallen in love with me, he fell in love with where i live so it was decided, as soon as his lease was up, he would move down here to be with me! yay!!!!! never in my life had i felt just so safe and warm and right with someone. he made and still makes me feel so special, and he lets me know every day that i am loved. the last day he was here, we had to go to indianapolis where he would catch the greyhound back to where he lived at the time. we decided to spend the whole day and night together in the city and just enjoy the day together, then go to the bus station and i could see him off. it was such a beautiful and magical day and evening. finally, at about 4 in the morning, we were just too tuckered out and everything was closed, so we went back to the bus station to take a nap and just cuddle together until about 9 in the morning when his bus was supposed to come. at about 7 in the morning, he got up to go to the bathroom and smoke a cigarette. this particular bus station had a little gift shop thingie. i noticed he was gone for about 15 minutes, and wondered where he was. i looked behind me and saw he was at the little gift shop thingie. i didn't think anything of it. then he came over and i could see he had something small hidden in his hand. he came up to me with a nervous but very sweet smile on his face, and that's when he did it! he got down on one knee and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me i was sooooooooooooooo happy! i started crying, and he presented me with the simplest little ring. it was just a cheap little fo' dolla ring from the greyhound giftshop thing, but i didn't care! i was just so happy that he asked me i am such a hopeless romantic, and that is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me so of course i said yes of course that was just a temporary ring. but i kept it and i still have it in my jewelry box as a reminder of how special and beautiful and what a gift our love is. we now live together quite happily. it happened fast, but it's right. we hardly ever fight, we communicate so well, we have so much fun together, we LOOOOOVE each other soooooo much, and we are just so perfect together he is the love of my life. sometimes there are positive stories about people meeting online now, everyone else tell your proposal stories i can't wait to read them!!! wheeeee hehe
katie79
He was taking me home. While we were on the Parkway, he dug his hand in his pocket ( I had no idea what he was trying to get, maybe a tissue??), and he said "So what do you say you and I get hitched?" I was shocked. He looked at me and said "Will you marry me?" I said "yes". He then took my hand and slipped it on. After that we kissed. I picked out the ring 2 months prior to that. We looked for it together. He had been telling me he wanted to marry me for years, so this year we finally did it. We would both like a Spring 2006 wedding. But I am still contemplating what month I want. I love the fall too! We'll see in a few months when the date is official. Cute story you have!
binturong
My BF and I had been together for 5 years. One Saturday when I was volunteering, he decided that if being married would make me happy, he should make it happen. He's sweet like that...whenever I want a new pet or anything, he'll get it for me because he thinks I should be able to have what I want if it makes me happy. Lucky for him I don't want for much. Anyway, he went to look at diamonds and found one that was perfect. He talked the sales guy down to a decent price and then bought the diamond. The next day, he had his boss call our house to tell him to get to work. He wanted to pick out a setting for the diamond, but I was giving him crap for wanting to go out without me (he complained when I volunteered because it meant we didn't get the whole weekend together). He was originally going to wait a couple of months before proposing, but once he had the diamond, he didn't want to wait. That Monday, he asked me if I wanted to go away for the weekend. That was Labor Day weekend, so I told him he was crazy if he thought we were going anywhere without reservations. So instead, he told me to keep Saturday free (I usually volunteer on Saturdays) because he wanted to do something with me, but it'd be a surprise. All week he'd tell me to stay out of the computer room, he'd go out in the front yard to talk on the phone, hang up the phone if I walked in the room...he even got himself caught in a lie! Told me he was staying late at work one night and came home complaining that he had to drive all over the city to look for what he needed. LOL. So Saturday rolls around. He woke up really early (in fact, he elbowed me in the nose when he got up...ouch!) and left, telling me to get ready. So I put on a cute dress and did my make up and everything. When he came home, he told me to look in the driveway. He had rented a 2002 Thunderbird convertible. I those cars. I mean, really really them. So I thought that was the surprise because I figured he just wanted to do something fun that weekend. We drove around San Diego, by the beach, in the rich neighborhoods...it was great! Then we went to the top of a mountain and he pulled a picnic basket out of the trunk! At this point, I was kind of suspecting something because he was getting really picky about where we sat and everything. After we had lunch, we walked around some more and he took me to a bench and told me to sit there while he got dessert. He came back with a big box and told me to open it. I opened it and saw some champagne and 2 champagne flutes. I was expecting chocolate, so I was confused. LOL. When I looked back at him, he was on his knee telling me that he got because he thought we could celebrate him asking me to marry him and he took out the ring. It was perfect! We had talked about what I liked before, but we never actually went to a store to pick one out. He did a great job on his own. Turns out he had been studying up on how to buy a diamond for 6 months prior to that, so he knew a LOT about diamond qualities. Right after I told him yes, he was telling me that we could exchange the setting if I didn't like it or get a bigger diamond if I wanted (this one is 3/4 carat...the perfect size for me since I'm small). Haha...YEAH RIGHT! Nope, I'm going to keep and wear the ring he picked out for me forever. No upgrades, no exchanges. This is perfect and this is it. He also told me that my family already knew. He had called both my mom and my dad and asked for their blessings. That in itself is a funny story because he caught one of my younger sisters on MSN Messenger and asked her for my mom's work #. He didn't think my sisters could keep a secret, so he didn't want them to know. Well, mom freaked out, thinking that something terrible had happened because why else would he want to call and speak to her alone? The second she got into work, she emailed him asking what was wrong. When he called her to tell her he just wanted to marry me, she was very relieved. My sisters and brother did end up finding out, but they kept the secret. I think I spent 4 hours on the phone that night calling everybody. After I called my parents, I called my friend, asking her if she was interested in the job opening I had for maid of honor (and it is a job...she's done so much to help with this wedding!). Then I had to call each and every aunt and uncle I had because they'd be upset if they heard it from anybody else. Anyway, the wedding is in 3 weeks. I made my dress and it's gorgeous, if I do say so myself. I also made the wedding favors and invitations. We still have a few things to finish off like the church decorations and programs and then I can relax a little before the wedding. We're going to use the champagne flutes he got for the proposal as our toasting glasses and we already got some more of that champagne for the reception (I don't usually like champagne, but that was some good stuff!). My bachelorette party is a week before the wedding and we're taking a two week honeymoon afterwards. One week in Monterey and one week in Monument Valley.
