rocketman122
there is this new guy at the gym as it seems the case about now where the people wake up from their coma's and realize they need to be Schwarzeneggers before summer. last workout there was this stink lingering in this certain area of the gym and I thought because there was a lot of people in that area that the stink accumulated. then a few people passed me and realized it was a specific person. I didnt think about it much and finished my few left of the workout and left. yesterdays workout, I come to do my heavy lat pulldown set and this guy was on the other machine. I was fired up and breaking the machine feeling so strong till I had a whiff from the machine next to me. bam! set ended half way and I was pissed. a smelly feet, bad BO, cheese smell. the guy was not sweating and I passed him by a few times to see if it was him. im used to the people smelling from sweat. the soury kinda stink. I sweat a lot but I dont smell. unless I wear a shirt over months which starts stinking like vitamins that I take. but I dont stink. everyone is different though. if you know you stink, come in strong with cologne and deo. Im not going to rearrange my workout for him and everywhere I went he followed. I spoke to some of the trainers there and they took a whiff and agreed but no one said nothing. im going to talk to someone at the managers office but im not certain if theyll take care of the situation. there is stinking when working out but coming stinky to the gym is wrong. the guy had hairs all over his short so im guessing he has pets. but thats no reason to come in stinky. like those who sweat all over the machine and dont wipe it down whether it be the aerobics machine or weight machine/bench. how to handle it of no one tells him? this is a potential problem im seeing thats going to cause me issues. smell/scent is a very powerful tool. Taramere
I wish I had some advice. I haven't encountered anybody obnoxious or smelly at the gym I go to now, but at the old gym there was this one guy who always wore the same t shirt. I doubt he washed it very often. He stank. He'd also groan constantly over the elliptical trainer - which he would hog mercilessly. He'd leave his towel and headphones over it, like a German tourist, whenever he was using other pieces of equipment. I'm sure there was some sort of sexual chemistry between him and that piece of equipment, from the gasping, moaning and groaning that went on whenever he was using it. I got to know his routine, and then avoided it - but sometimes he'd change his routine and be there when I was. Steadily increasing the stench of his already unfortunate t-shirt. I had a bitching session about him with quite a few people, and the staff there weren't keen on him, but nobody seemed to have any ideas as to what could be done. It was as though he went out of his way to be vile. He would go to get a drink, fill a plastic cup with water, drink it, throw the plastic cup away and then pull out another one to fill it. Sometimes getting through three plastic cups in one visit to the water dispenser (and yes, I'd be watching it all disapprovingly via the mirror). Also, he'd never wipe the equipment down after use. One time he was in the swimming pool area while I was there. There was a shower outside the ladies' and one outside the gents' changing rooms. He went to the ladies' shower, and while he was using it he put his finger over one nose and blasted snot everywhere as I seethed impotently in the Jacuzzi - wondering whether he'd also marked that territorially with his body fluids. There should be a special gym in hell for those people.
Author rocketman122
what an ahole of a person. people who arent aware of their surroundings and arent considerate should be shot on the spot to save the public from having to deal with them. we dont need people like this in the world. with this guy at the gym I know that I wont be discrete or kind with my words. I will get emotional and then feel guilty after. I will probably intimidate him with my size. but im pissed at the trainers for not stepping in. if I have to be the douche who does it then so be it but I see this is a big problem and im not going to let it ruin my workouts. I was there working my ass off in the winters. driving on my motorcycle in extreme raining conditions doing heavy squats till I felt like puking. no way. we all need to use the gym but not like this. I wonder what would happen if you took a can of air freshener into the gym and squirted it around - with a couple of squirts being aimed swiftly and firmly in his direction. With the horrible t shirt grunting guy in my old gym, I occasionally wondered what would happen if I took a container of Febreze in with me one day, ran up to him, sprayed it all over his shirt and ran away again. Lillyfree
gym's bad enough, at least you can move to a different area. i do MA and a new guy started about a month ago, young guy in his teens who doesn't understand you shouldn't rock up with BO and smelling of cigarettes - and guess who was blessed with the task of showing him self-defence and holding his hand through sparring? grappling was hell... so i asked my sempai to not partner up with him anymore. and he completely understood... i always have a shower before training. even if jumping on the treadmill at home, i'll have a quick rinse off before and after - it opens up the pores and is better for your skin! If no one tells him, you should find out what car he drives and leave a note in his windshield next time he is working out!
SmithWood
If no one tells him, you should find out what car he drives and leave a note in his windshield next time he is working out! Sure certainly along with him, it's more suitable thought to allow him know about what other people feeling as he visit the gym

Tbh I usually dont make much effort on personal grooming for training, its a gym not a fashion parade lol but try to make sure I dont smell going in, rather a bit sweaty an smelly coming out lol might try tidy myself up a bit for next time I go in, cant hurt lol If you're clean before you start sweating, it generally doesn't really stink. Old stagnant sweat that has been allowed to dry onto your skin and clothes and becomes putrid is what usually really stinks. It may not be a fashion parade, but usually when you live, work and play around other people a certain level of effort is expected. Some people fall short and make excuses like they are too manly to be concerned with not putting out bad body odor. Seriously, soap, water @5 minutes. Dry off, deodorant. It is not that difficult.
amaysngrace
Can't you just play dumb and ask him if he thinks something smells like ass?
