billybadass36
Okay, diet pills aren't the preferred method of weight loss, but for some people they can and do help either "jump start" their weight loss. I fancy myself a bit of a body builder, so here's what's helped me: First and foremost be aware that "dietary supplements" are not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. They contain "herbal" substances that are not defined as "drugs" by the Food Drug and Cosmetics Act, and thereby do not need a "New Drug Application" to be approved by the FDA. Generally speaking, dietary supplements are only regulated by various consumer protection laws including the US Consumer Protection Act which pretty much only states that companies cannot make false and misleading claims in marketing and advertising. What that means is that any dietary supplement manufacturer can conduct studies until they're blue in the face until they get just one successful "study" that backs their claims. Then they're in the clear to make the "clinically proven to (fill in the blank)". Disregarding brand names, certain items are known to increase human metabolism (with various side effects, the nature and severity of which you can find out on your own). For years, the bodybuilding community had determined (and very likely still does) that the ECA stack is the most effective supplementation for weight loss. This is Ephedrine, Caffeine, and Aspirin. The original Hydroxycut (before the epehdra ban) contained just this, albeit in "herbal" form (as well as a proprietary substance called "hydroxycitic acid" that was intended to add to the effect). Xenedrine (pre ephedra ban) also had it. If you want the same effects and can get your hands on ephedrine, that's what I did. I'd take 1/2 the recommended dose to start because you will be jittery with the ephedra. No over the counter substance has consistently performed better than the ECA stack. There are various other diet pills out there, but they're all going to be CNS stimulants, so you need to know your body and know the risks of taking them. With regard to everything else, do cardio at least 30 minutes 4 days a week as well as strength training, and you'll be on the right track. If your diet needs changing, that's common sense: If it tastes good, it's bad for you. Green leafy veggies, high protein, low fat foods, no soda, no sugar, no fat. Regardless of whether you're taking any kind of supplement, the undisputably best way to lose weight: Eat less. Exercise more. Disclaimer: Before doing anything consult your doctor (although your doctor will tell you not to take anything but only to eat less and exercise more).

goodnbad
pav, well, all I can say is I used ephedra like I was supposed to and didn't 'abuse' it...and had a couple of seizures. Coincidence? I think not. No pre-existing conditions here. Anyhow, I guess the main thing is, if you come here and ask about diet pills, you're gonna get some people who are gonna give you THEIR opinion---ie, don't use them at all, etc. Maybe it's not the answer you were looking for, but I think it's safe to say that most with the nay vote have been in your shoes, lexnmike, and are just looking out for your welfare and trying to save you some grief. Papillon, hmmm, funny you should mention it, I WAS up at 5am to go jogging! Take care everyone...... .....from a former pill-poppin' dumbass (although I'm sure there's those out there that would argue that I still might be the latter! ) Oh well, nobody's perfect! goodnbad
