binturong
Who all do we tip? We're paying the minister and the organist $250 each to be there. That's in addition to the church fees for using their property. Do we tip them MORE money? We will tip the church coordinator, since we're not paying him directly (although I'm sure he gets paid out of the other church fees anyway). What about the limo driver? The limo company is charging us for 2 hours of time, even though we only need the car for a half hour max. I'm kind of assuming we tip him, even though I think the price we're paying is ridiculous, because he might only get paid for the time we use him, despite what the company is charging us. The videographers? Again, they're charging quite a bit of money for us to have them there, but they are employees of another person, so do they get tipped? The DJ? He's the owner of his own business, so do we tip him in addition to paying the fees? The florist and cake person? You can't tell me that for the ridiculous amount of money they're charging, it isn't them making a profit. And I think they are the owners of the place, since they just opened. What about the reception coordinator? The reception place is already automatically tacking on a 20% gratuity to our tab, does some of that go to the coordinator too or is it just for the bartenders and waitstaff? And how much is considered a good tip? Because even "just" tipping 10% to each person will add up to a significant amount of money. Let me also add that we're paying fees for most of them to travel to and from the location, for them to set up, etc.
tiki
For my first marriage (now on my 6th... kidding!) I tipped the minister $50 and gave the singer/piano player a $25 gift certificate. I guess I'm cheap.
