Hey, guys! Want to see a REAL woman???

Recommended Posts

To find "average", start in Walmart.

This is perfect. And back home in the desert, this can be quite heinous...

For emphasis, a few Hollywood hotties without makeup. Bear in mind these women are considered the top 10% of women. Want to bet that most of these guys would consider these women average to below average, if they saw them walking down the street?

Kirsten Stewart without makeup.

Scarlett Johansson without makeup.

Milla Jovovich without makeup.

Rachel Bilson without makeup.

I'd say average women are fine with average men.

First of all these are shots that tabloid photographers kill for. A glimpse of them hung over or looking like crap. ANYBODY can look horrible when they feel like crap and their facial expressions show it. The first and last pic capitalize on their facial expressions so nice try TBF!

My take on these photos:

Kirsten Stewart looks hung over, like she feels like s.hit run over twice BUT I can still "see it", she's pretty cute. She's not a bombshell, NOT top 10%.

Scarlett Johansson looks attractive in the photo and I'll agree that she's in the top 10%.

Mila Jovovich is attractive, I see it but she's not my type, she does nothting for me. I wouldn't put her in the top 10%.

Rachel Bilson doesn't look to happy in this pic, another expmple of capitalizing on a poor facial expression. It's obvious she's an attractive woman and I'd put her in the top 10%.

I don't see a problem, clearly some pics are more flattering than others.

On the pics she said herself she looks flattering, I think she looks very good. Obviously not so on the pics she looks intentionally bad on (slouching, Megan Amram-like expressions).

Heck, I see from my own example, how much of a difference a posture can make.

Somedude, how "average" is a salsa class? It's not exactly a random group sample. They are all women who chose to take a salsa class.

So uh, is a salsa class the same thing as a Victoria's Secret model shoot? Who do you think is in the class?

The only thing that they have in common is that they are all under 25.

I have no idea what any of that has in common with critiquing "average" looking women.

Not in common, perhaps, but in relevance, would be attitude.

What would your opinion be of the attitude of a woman who constantly felt the need to criticize your height in an unsolicited manner, regardless of whether or not you were of average height, below average, or above average?

Would you desire to be with such a woman?

Would any decent man desire to be with such a woman?

I can't explain this adequately on this thread, but it's a sampling bias. That means that we can not draw conclusions about the general population based on that group.

It doesn't mean I think they look like VS models. But if you pull driver's license numbers of 20 random women between 21-25 in your zip code, the class would probably look very different--and the dancing would probably be a lot worse

Absolutely not.

You obviously think for some reason that my salsa class is for beautiful people only. Don't forget that I'm also in it :p

For the vast majority of the girls in the class it is their first time taking a dance class. Most of the girls were bad at the start and it was awkward to dance with them because they didn't know how to move. This is a beginner level salsa class, even though it's the only one being taught.

Sorry, I'm not seeing how any of what you are saying is relevant.

Do think I actually talk about anything even close to this stuff with girls IRL?

Not the point.

Say you stumble across them saying these things about you in private and they didn't know you'd overheard them.

None of this changes the fact that there is a sampling bias. They chose to sign up for a dance class. That makes them a non-random group. Think of all the reasons a person would and would not sign up for a salsa class (transportation, money for enrollment, comfort touching strangers, etc).

It doesn't mean I think they are beautiful people. It just means that they likely are not representative of average.

My point is that it takes a certain type of attitude to look at a blog post about health, specifically women's mental and physical well-being, and somehow all you can talk/think about is whether or not that woman has an 'average' body and whether you'd bang her.

Sometimes people like people whose headspace isn't consumed with women's bodies and critiquing them. (or, conversely, men's bodies)

You're losing me xxoo. None of that supports your claim that the people in my salsa class are better looking than average.

Why do you think this thread was made?

BTW I really hope that when you say "you," you aren't talking about me, but talking about the various readers of this thread.

I already said I can't adequately explain research methods to you on this thread. It's off topic.

But being attracted to most of the girls in your salsa class, or on your campus, does not prove that you are attracted to average women.

When you are attracted to most of the women in Walmart, then I'll accept that you are attracted to average women.

Why would Walmart be a more accurate representation of average than my college campus? Isn't that also a sampling bias?

Once again, I'm only talking about women under 25.

Because it pulls from a broader range of socio-economic groups and activity levels, for starters.

The Average Body Weight for Women

According to the National Health Statistics Report by the Centers for Disease Control, the average weight for medium-built women varies per age group. The average weight for all women over 20 years old is 164.7 lbs. The average weight for women ages 20 to 29 years is 155.9 lbs.,

Is that the average weight of the women in your class?

Yep, I'm using the general 'you'.

As for why this thread was made, I highly doubt it was Carrie's intention to get male critiques of the author's body.

Because only a very specific group of people go to salsa class, but everybody needs soap and dishwashing liquid?

Honestly, the salsa class analogy is similar to me saying that 80% of guys under 25 have hot abs and muscles, because I'm looking at the topless guys at the beach....

Or me saying that 80% of moms in their 30s are in shape, because all the I'm at a suburban park in a upper-middle class area with lots of active families.

Well, I know you wouldn't say such a thing personally, but, I do think that a vast majority of young women do think most men have visibly ripped abdominal muscles. Men and women both tend to have skewed perceptions of "average"...

I have a feeling that the young women who do, will be going through the same cycle as some of the men here who have the same skewed perceptions. I have zero pity for either of them. :o

And I beleive that Walmart shoppers actually pulls from a narrower range of socio-economic groups and activity levels.

Is that the average weight of the women in your class?

I have no clue what the average weight is. There are girls in the class that probably range from around 100 to 200+ lbs. Frankly talking about average is meaningless because 3 or 4 obese people can throw everything off. Especially for a sample of only 20 people.

Yep, I'm using the general 'you'.

As for why this thread was made, I highly doubt it was Carrie's intention to get male critiques of the author's body.

Was it?

I love this woman - I really do...

She has a handful of mirror images the likes of which get put up on OLD or are used to attract guys. You know, face made-up and peacocking her stuff to look more attractive.

But she also shows that she is a normal, healthy, real woman - the kind that if many guys saw without the primping, wouldn't want.

Go figure. This is for you guys who want those women you see in magazines. They aren't real...

Seems it was the exact response one would expect.

Because only a very specific group of people go to salsa class, but everybody needs soap and dishwashing liquid?

Honestly, the salsa class analogy is similar to me saying that 80% of guys under 25 have hot abs and muscles, because I'm looking at the topless guys at the beach....

Once again, that is absolutely incorrect.

That is the discussion I'm having with xxoo. She is trying to argue that the people in my salsa class are overall better looking than average, and she has absolutely no way to back up that claim.

If she were to go to my class and look at the people in it she would understand how foolish she sounds.
