Wolvesbaned
OK girls (& guys too) I'm planning on getting my first fancy-shmansy haircut sometime this week and need some advice. I don't really watch much TV anymore and I've been outta "the scene" for years so I need help with what's still in. What's the verdict with highlights for this fall season? What exactly are lowlights? Are short bangs still in? I want a medium to short haircut, something fun and uneven. I haven't colored my hair lately (or done anything to it for that matter) in years but when I did color, I've tried it all so I can be adventurous. Any suggestions? What's the newest trend in hair color-wise? I was thinking about brown tones with lighter brown highlights. It won't be a transformation since my hair is already dark brown but I thought the highlights'll add some depth. Tell me whatcha think gang... I've been postponing this long enough
Artifact
I've found that a fancy-pants hairdresser will gladly listen to your suggestions to find out what you personally like and don't like- but will proceed with whatever s/he believes to be most flattering on you, and most "in style." This is only my experience, but I say tell your hairdresser what you told us, then relax and trust you'll look great.
fanou22
I would say don't let them touch you natural color. Just ask for highlights. I have a preference for heavy highlights and it shows a lot the difference between dark and light. If the highlights are light they will mesh in and not show. As for the haircut, pick a magazine and choose something that will go with your face.
Mr Spock
A.Don't go too short. B.Pick something that flatters the shape of your face (people carryinga few extra pounds should never get anything cut above their chin around their face) C.Pick a colour that won't leave you with huge ass roots, since you don't go very often to the salon. D.Highlights are good-but harder on your hair than straight colour application (you don't have a lot of choices with dark brown hair anyways...darker brown?)unless of course the colour is mixed to lighten your hair. E.Don't go too short F.Go pick up a copy of PEOPLE and flick through it......see if you can recognize anything you like.
