pink_sugar
So this is somewhat health related about cosmetics. My eyes have recently been getting itchy from my makeup when I rub my eyes or whenever I use makeup remover. How can I tell when to toss certain products or which products are irritating my eyes? steveT95
By trial and error. Stick on a product - does it itch? - yes? look at ingredients. Repeat. See what ingredients all of the irritable products have in common and then you will see what is irritated you and know what to avoid in the future.
Leegh
I don't know, but if you can afford it, every six months or so. In addition, it may not be a good idea to rub your eyes, as bacteria can get in your eyes. Also, coconut oil is good for removing eye make-up, and I have used olive oil also. Anything that is "oily" will work quite well. But I do NOT use oily bath products in the bathtub/shower as I had slipped several years ago while using those products in the shower. I don't know where you live, but sometimes dry winter weather can affect skin in the eye area, and dry it out. Also, I don't use eye make-up or any make-up on days when I not going out anywhere of any significence.
Star Gazer
Could it just be allergy season?
seren
Try switching to Clarins, it's excellent for people who have allergies. Keep away from oil based removers and cleansers, I use Nivea lotion, apply and remove with a warm cloth, if you have itchy eyes, use a clean cotton pad for each eye incase you cross infect. Check you make up bag and regularly throw out any over 6 months, bacteria is rife in make up and most people keep theirs for ages. Allergies will be high in the UK this year due to the weather we have had.
FitChick
Liquids and paste type cosmetics have moisture so germs can easily grow, although most have preservatives. Powders not so much. I've kept powdered eye shadow for years with no problem. You should wash your makeup brushes every week though.
xpaperxcutx
My preference for eye make up is a good primer and powdered eyeshows. There was a good brand I used years back called Inglot. Try to stick to brands that use raw materials and are organic as possible.
todreaminblue
So this is somewhat health related about cosmetics. My eyes have recently been getting itchy from my makeup when I rub my eyes or whenever I use makeup remover. How can I tell when to toss certain products or which products are irritating my eyes? lately my eyes have been really playing up.....and i think its because my makeup is getting old, i dont use a lot of it so it lasts forever...dont think it lasting forever is good for my eyes...so i am going to have to replace my eyeliner and mascara they are about six months old.....deb
