I'm single and losing my hair. It's affecting my confidence around girls, ?

I don't know what to do. I am single and I am losing my hair! It is receding and It's making me feel self conscious. I wear baseball caps because I feel more confident with a hat on, but I am embarrassed about my hair loss. I'm starting to feel like this will diminish my chances with the majority of girls. When you're in a club, it's not so bad, but when the girls are sober and able to measure your attractiveness, it doesn't bode well! *GULP*

Any advice?

I can't afford a hair transplant, so am I well and truly done for?

Start using Rogaine (the generic Minoxidil is cheaper) morning and night. It will stop further hair loss.

Make sure you eat enough protein and lots of green veg.

Viviscal hair tablets (I have them shipped automatically every month from amazon.com) help keep my hair thicker. My doctor uses it herself and her hair looks great. She is in her sixties.

Self confidence and your personality - Let that take over. Most women if they find you attractive won't let that get in the way.

You could shave your head? Many women love bald or shaved heads. Whatever you feel comfortable with.

I was/am losing my hair. So I shaved it off last week. A great decision.

Only downside is I'll be using twice the amount of shaving cream I used to. But seriously, it's a good look.

My boyfriend has a pretty advanced case of hair oss at only 25. I couldn't care less... Once I got to know him, I began to find him very attractive regardless. His hair loss was never a factor to me.

Just sayin'

My ex had a receding hairline. It didn't bother me at all, his self confidence and healthy lifestyle had me starstruck. I wouldn't have cared if that man was bald, and he usually shaved his hair really short. Hair really doesn't matter as much when you are a guy. Just roll with it. He's 26, if that helps.

You could shave it all off or try things to make it grow back. Otherwise, I'd say just embrace! Make it your all and pitch it with a sense of humor! People admire someone who is able to put a positive spin on anything. Why worry about it? There are many women out there who will look past your hair-just because your personality stands out and commands presence!

As a female, I know I could care less if you are chubby, skinny, short, tall, bald, long hair--if your personality clicks with me then it's settled.

there is nothing wrong with a shaved head, it can be very sexy, but even sexier is confidence. i know a lot of guys (including my ex) who had hair loss but do not have issues with the ladies. it's all a matter of confidence.

Feelin Frisky

I started to lose my hair at about 30. But after the initial frightening loss it slowed down and bounced back. But I freaked when it happened. I was between g/f's then and living single in an apartment. I started to see hair all over the soap and thought "who the hell has been in here?" Then realized it was coming from me. I had had such full hair up to that point and I really wanted to find someone and get married and I thought oh god, not this now. When I went clubbing I could see the light from track lamps bouncing off my skull in mirrors. But it's over 20 years since then and when I look in the mirror, I still have hair. The loss confined itself to the back and when I get a haircut I never look when they try to show me the back. What I can't see can't hurt me. BTW, Rogaine did absolutely nothing and hair seemed to come out just rubbing that stuff in. I also tried Propecia which is a pill. I can say that it didn't return any hair. Oh to have the tresses of my youth back.

Hair loss happens and most women aren't as put off by it as you might imagine.

But I will say that once you acknowledge it's happening, you should accept it with confidence rather than try to mask it in vain, transparent ways. Don't be the dude who wears the baseball cap at all times. It will just make you feel 100 times more self-conscious at the times when you have to give up your crutch and take the hat off. Also, don't experiment with weird combing techniques or hair-gelling or what have you.

Either find a haircutter who can give you a good cut that works with the baldness, or do as others suggested and shave it all off.

Can I also add, if you do any online dating, choose photos that reflect your hair as it is. It is so off-putting to me when I see a guy with five photos of himself with a thick head of hair, followed by one photo of himself bald. Clearly the hair photos are a couple years or more out of date. Or, sometimes guys will be wearing a hat in ALL of their photos, and it's clear what they're hiding.

You gotta have some pride in yourself and be who you are.

I started thinning at age 23 and started shaving my head three years ago. I swear that I have more luck with women than I did when I was in my early 20s with a full head of hair.

If you are a decent looking guy in decent shape, a shaved head should not really affect how attractive women find you - some even prefer it. As everyone else said, confidence is key.

I dated a guy with a receding hair line. NEVER BOTHERED ME. He was confident, sexy and that was all that mattered.

This isn't going to stop you from meeting girls, your insecurity will.

I met my hubby when he was 22. He had hair then and still has most of it now... "most," as the operative word. Lol. He has a receding hair line. I don't mind at all. I would actually kick him in the shin for shaving his head though. I didn't fall in love with him being an army buff and shaving his head would upset me, just like chopping my long, blonde hair off would upset him. I like his hair just the way it is even if its receding.

I think it has more to do with how you carry yourself, not what you look like.

So own it! Rock it! Love it!

No, you're not "truly done for". I've come across a few baldies who were quite sexy. :bunny:

minoxidil only grows very weak hair and it will not stop hair loss.

Unfortunately the only way to stop hair loss is to interfere with DHT production by inhibiting the alpha-5 reductase enzyme. This class of drugs includes finasteride, dutasteride, spyro.

These drugs:

might give you erectile dysfunction

might give you bitch tits

might **** with your concentration, your sleep patterns

But you'll keep your hair.

See if you can find a doc who will prescribe Avodart off label, as it is more potent than propecia. Also Google "polysorbate80 and hair loss" dirt cheap stuff that does not irritate the scalp like rogaine.

Make sure you are in great shape OP, masculine looking balding guys can be incredibly sexy because they have that tough, chiseled look. It seems to me that most men start losing their hair at one point so I wouldn't worry about it. It's a common sight, not something that even vaguely concerns me.

I'm trying to remember what Dr. Oz had on his show about that last week - it was for a woman in her forties. It might have been during the Kimberly Snyder section, but I'm not sure. She recommended a food to prevent thinning hair.

Here - this is from his site:

While it seems natural to look at man’s head and notice his hair is becoming a little thin, it is much more embarrassing for a woman to look in the mirror and see the very same thing.

Tahini: Tahini is basically just sesame seeds that have been ground into a paste with a texture similar to peanut butter. The fats found in tahini will help to keep your hair follicles hydrated, which will prevent them from falling out prematurely.

If it means that much to you, save up for hair replacement surgery. It is not that expensive.

Take care,
