crederer Posted April 30, 2013 Share Posted April 30, 2013 So my best buddy's(Josh) girlfriend (Jen) and I are also friends. She was the one who originally hooked me up with my now recent ex (Sarah). We have a special kind of bond and have for a few years. A lot of times when we go out and people don't know us, they'll make comments like "you're such a cute couple", or "how long have you guys been dating?" Everyone can see we have a tight bond, friends and strangers alike. A few months ago when I was still with me ex she said to me "if I ever broke up with Josh and you broke up with Sarah, would you consider dating me?" I got really upset. She is my best friends girl, and she was also friends with my girl. I told her not to ask that again as that will under no circumstances happen. I told Sarah about this conversation and she was naturally upset with it. I didn't hang out with Jen again alone. I hung out with her quite a bit still but only in a group setting when Josh or Sarah were around. Well a few months ago, I broke up with Sarah and started hanging out again with Jen quite a bit. There has been no funny business and she has remained acting the same as any other platonic friend would. Now the issue is we all have a bunch of mutual friends who have seen us hanging out together. My ex's best friend has seen me and Jen hanging out alone together maybe 4 or 5 times since I broke up with Sarah about two months ago. Now there are whispers going around that I'm sleeping with my best buddy's girlfriend and it really bothers me. I mean we're in our mid 20's and I feel this is such highschool BS. I talked to Josh about it and he said he's fine with it and trusts both of us completely. However, I am worried that over time these rumors are going to balloon and I'll end up losing one, if not, both of my closest friends. How can I nip this in the bud? Link to post Share on other sites
