Anyone gone through a one month milk diet for weight loss?

I have been surviving on mostly skimmed milk (round the clock, every 2-3 hrs) for the past 3 weeks due to loss of appetite. I noticed I have dropped quite a bit of weight but I have also increased my workouts, so not too sure if the "milk diet" play a part too.

Skimmed milk doesn't have enough nutrition in it to support you and a varied diet is very important especially when you exercise. You also need to eat solids, especially ruffage.

Going through a period of drinking a lot of milk brought on my lactose intolerance as it eventually became too much for my body. The increased amount of calcium can cause kidney stones too.

Not a smart idea.

I try to include Weetbix for breakfast and some form of solids (chicken breast, brown rice, veges) when working out but having a need to force them down my throat.

Did you mean you were not lactose intolerant before and after that bout of drinking milk, it caused that?

Ah! From your original post I had the impression that skimmed milk was a very significant part of your diet (as in almost exclusive).

I probably had a very mild form already (milk gave me some gas but really not much at all) and excessive consumption exacerbated it I think. I know we need our Calcium supply but I think the theory goes that adults don't need that much milk. Kidney stones are a potential issue too

Skim milk is not a remotely acceptable diet for anything more than 1 day. Since you can't eat normally, you may have a serious medical or psychological problem and you should be seen by a doctor ASAP.

Maybe you have an ulcer or GERD or even a parasite. See a gastroenterologist. Eating the wrong foods could make it worse.

Pardon me, I have left out the reason for the loss of my appetite. I am going through quite a bit of stress (which I try not to let it bother me but somehow it creep up on my appetite). I love food! But with some family and personal issues coming all together, I somehow lost the appetite.

With this milk only diet, I thought I could sustain till my appetite comes back and eating a little here and there. Just wanted to know if its viable. I drink about 1 litre of milk every day.

The part about dating I am not too sure yet. Don't think I will ever be ready or I am always ready, however you want to think it. I find myself falling back into that vicious cycle. Better myself in every aspects, feel good and happy with my life, then date someone, I fall back into being codependent and maybe a little needy/clingy (I'm very much in awareness and constantly try to improve myself striking a balance between work, family, personal life, friends and love one during the dating).

I have been through a couple of cycles of 3-4 years LTR, at least 4 cycles, each time it gets better, less heartbreak, less pain. Not even sure if I am hardened or just simply taking in the zen concept of being here, right here right now at the moment. No past, no future. Just being here.

I think SoleMate was right, regardless. You need to see a specialist, it's obviously a psychological issue, your being in denial about it doesn't help. Drinking a litre of milk is not great, you need to sort this out properly.

Do you know its weird that the society these days always recommend seeing a specialist or drs, but all they do is just prescribe meds. Sorry I dont mean they dont help but can they really solve the root problem?

Can't we overcome these deep rooted issues with the help of you great people here dishing practical advice? Which is why I lurk the forums here and have found great advices along the way through other people's experiences.

Well you can't do it by yourself. I understand what you mean but not being able eat is one of life's bigger problems, wouldn't you say?

No-one is a specialist here. We are all internet strangers. You can't save the money and effort to go to a specialist and seek proper solution. I realise that not every specialist is an expert but having any Tom, Dick and Harry posting is infinitely less likely to help you fix the issue.

Thanks Emilia, you are right. The first step to doing that is through myself otherwise noone will be able to help me if I do not want to open up and get the help I need.
