dichotomy
I got started late, but very happy to be a parent to two children - one older stepchild and one younger birth child. Only regret was not having more, and having them younger. I would have been very happy with 4 or more kids. My happiest achievement seeing the older daughter thought some very tough times. Nothing brings me more peace and a sense of job well done then to lift a life up. Most likely grand kids come near the end of years.

TaraMaiden
It is your divine duty as a Christian to procreate. It is not your divine RIGHT to have children. Personally, I wouldn't now have children, if I had my time again. The world is already in a huge state of imbalance where "99% of the world's wealth is in the hands of 1% of the world's population.". Whatever the accurate statistics, there is a massive imbalance. And you would be adding to the 1% population of 'Haves', in the West, who indirectly 'take' from the 'Have-nots'. I apologise for putting a downer on it. But the cost involved in just raising one child, is astronomical. Near to, or slightly over a quarter of a million pounds. Think of all the really good sound logical reasons for having a child, then think of all the really good sound logical reasons for not having a child. Go with it.
Author BetheButterfly
It is your divine duty as a Christian to procreate. Jesus Christ gave the Great Commission but that's about making disciples, not so much having little disciples lol. It is not your divine RIGHT to have children.Agreed. Personally, I wouldn't now have children, if I had my time again. The world is already in a huge state of imbalance where "99% of the world's wealth is in the hands of 1% of the world's population.".Understood. Whatever the accurate statistics, there is a massive imbalance. Yeah agreed and that's really not cool. And you would be adding to the 1% population of 'Haves', in the West, who indirectly 'take' from the 'Have-nots'.What if my hubby and I moved to his native country of Ecuador? (I don't want to though; I love the USA.) I apologise for putting a downer on it.It's ok. I understand. But the cost involved in just raising one child, is astronomical. Near to, or slightly over a quarter of a million pounds. Yeah and there is also sacrifice in other areas. A Mom sacrifices her time for her children, for example. My Mom did. She's just now finishing university. Think of all the really good sound logical reasons for having a child, then think of all the really good sound logical reasons for not having a child. Go with itThanks for the advice.
