Hrudey
I'm in my early 20s (23), never been in a relationship, recently graduated college and moved to a new city to start my career. For 3 months I was on a project in a different city that required me to leave on Sunday night and not come back until Friday night. During that time I was largely content with just spending the weekends relaxing, and for the last few in April visiting friends from college. Now that I'm home I feel at a loss. I'm friendly with people at work but many still live at home and have their friends from college and high school to fall back on whereas I went to college in a different state and the few of my friends from HS left in the area still live a good hour+ away. My only "friend" in the area is from college and I haven't seen her in almost 2 years. I was never truly happy moving to this area to begin with and I'm already trying to plan my way out. But I know at the end of the day changing locations will only make me so happy. I feel like I'm ready for a relationship but I'm finding it difficult to find a starting point. I'm not the most persistent/aggressive when it comes to going after girls, one thing I sincerely regret about college (especially since I went to a very, very large state university), and being in a new city where I don't know many people I don't want to start the same pattern over again. outsidethebox
It's pretty rough being in a city not knowing anyone. In today's mobile society you can spend a lot of time there and still not really know anyone that well. Not like the friends and family connections you have from the years growing up. In the 20's after college in a new city the biggest connections I made were with other singles from work who did some socializing after work etc. Pretty random as to whether there happens to be some people like that that you get to know. Almost as hard as meeting someone to date.
