DanielStone
Another subject I was just curious on so thought I'd make a thread. Obviously, piercings and tattoos are completely a personal preference, you either love or hate them... But! If you met someone who had a few piercings and tattoos and liked the person, do you think you could look beyond it? The reason I ask, one because I'm curious and secondly because I have a few piercings myself and have been turned down due to them before (No big deal) and friends of mine have also said they would NEVER date someone with piercings. Now, I'm not talking about people who are COVERED in tattoos and piercings, but perhaps people like me with 3/4 piercings and 1/2 tattoos. To give you an idea of the type of piercings I mean I've uploaded a photo of myself with my old piercing so you can see! Worth mentioning it is kind of old, yes I have a baby face, don't judge! ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting I now also have an eyebrow and tongue piercing, but since I am using a new computer I couldn't find a picture to upload and couldn't be bothered to take one! So just kind of imagine it Edited May 17, 2013 by DanielStone
MidwestUSA
Sorry, the nose thing is a turnoff. But I'm sure there's someone out there for you. Best of luck!

Author DanielStone
Sorry, the nose thing is a turnoff. But I'm sure there's someone out there for you. Best of luck! I knew I'd get a reaction like that! It's one of the most disgusting piercings to most people, I however personally like it! But my question wasn't directed towards me, I just meant piercings and tattoos on people in general... The picture was just to give you an idea of what kinda of piercings I meant! You don't think you could look past piercings at all?
Emilia
You don't think you could look past piercings at all? Not in or around the mouth. I think it's really unhygenic. You have bracteria breeding there, food left over... not appealing. I'm ok with tatoos but quality over quantity definitely
Maleficent
Hmmm I'm looking forward to seeing people's answers to this. As a person with a lot of tattoos (full sleeve/chest tattoo, back covered ect) I had one friend who 'liked girls natural'. It turns out it was also directed towards his friends because he always judged me as '****ed up' Well we're not friends anymore. I'm sure some people have seen me and thought 'she's pretty but too bad she has so many tattoos' which I think is ridiculous. Especially today. On my part, well you know, the main difference between a tattooed person and a not tattooed person is that the tattooed person sincerely doesn't care whether or not you have tattoos. My first piercing like many other people was my ear lobe which most people have, it doesn't take much care at all so thats what most people think all piercings are like! Having had many facial piercings I can honestly say that they are kept VERY VERY clean, I clean all my piercings 3 times a day.. I think you'd be surprised how clean piercings actually are! MidwestUSA
Tatts are fine, my man's arms are covered and I have one. Contemplating another. As for piercings, nothing in the face, nose, mouth. Ears and navals okay, no genitals, thank you very much.

I wouldn't agree on that actually, I know quite a few people who have tattoos and piercings but who don't like them on the opposite sex... Although this is quite rare in the 'Tattoo and Piercing' community! All comes down to personal preference really at the end of the day! And I would love to see a picture of your sleeves! I personally find sleeves amazing, I love them!

It's interesting to know that someone who clearly loves tattoos doesn't really like facial piercings or perhaps most piercings that much? Usually you would assume they would go hand in hand with each other!
Author DanielStone
To each his own. My daughter did this crap to her ears. <<=== Ahhh the stretchers! Another good discussion point.. I also personal like them on girls, however, I think it can get to a point where it becomes too much! If she starts getting any bigger than around 12mm theres a chance it won't shrink back naturally and any bigger than 20mm and it DEFINITELY won't shrink back naturally! Anything over 10/12mm and that would turn me off.

Usually you would assume they would go hand in hand with each other! I'm just too old, LOL! That stuff doesn't fly in any of my potential "careers". My husband is not looking forward to wearing long sleeves all summer, but his employer demands it. My stepdaughter met a guy, and had "Loyalty and Respect" tasted across her chest for him. They were hot n heavy for maybe three weeks. It looks ridiculous, sorry. Impulsive tatts, no. Well thought out and of quality, yes. They have to have SOME meaning that is timeless. My niece has one arm covered with some Dr. Suess crap, WTF is that? (No offense, suessgirl!)

Maybe couples should get pierced holding each others hands. They could get pierced with their arms wrapped around each other too. Maybe while making love, a face in a lap, a tongue on their lover, if you're the itchy type - a backscratcher....oh the possibilities!!!!

Oh yeah a lot of employers hate the tattoos and piercings, which I why I chose ones which I could easily hide or take out without a problem. The tattoo I am going to get will be easily hidden by a short sleeve shirt so thats not a problem for me... Oh dear I totally agree! A friend of mine got her Boyfriend of 2 months name tattooed onto her wrist, broke up 3 weeks later! It's ridiculous! I know tattoos are an art form but seriously, don't just get any old crap! You have it for life!

Not everyone cleans piercings as much as you do Very true! But you'll find the people who don't clean piercings properly or at all take them out very quickly... Besides with any facial piercings you can see very clearly whether or not they clean them, so it's not too much of a problem... If they look clean, they are clean its as simple as that so as long as they look clean, kiss away

Sunshine87
Aww...I wish I had something more positive to say but I don't like piercings nd certainly won't date someone with those sort of piercings I.e facial piercings. Re: Tattoos, I don't like tattos. Maybe if it was a small one in a hidden area- I could manage that. But big tattos on the arms etc? No way. (Did I spell "Tattoo" right?) Lol Few things to note: Age matters a lot. I'm a 26year old professional. Ild be looking to date or settle with someone similar. Most employers won't allow facial tattoos. So in a way, itld be difficult to find a professional with facial piercings or visible tattos. if that makes any sense. I know several people who had tattoos and facial piercings whilst at univversity but they had no choice but to get rid of them and go out fully clothed inorder not to reveal the permanent ink. Second, I don't want to stereotype but there is a certain impression that someone with facial piercings and tattoos gives. Many people perceive them as "rock and roll rebellious" people. Obviously this is NOT often the case but it does send some unfavourable vibes. Third, I like the "clean" look. Ultimately if I met a fantastic man who had a tattoo on his arm, I would rule him out...especially if he got it when he was younger (which is often the case). But ild make sure he covered it up anytime we went out. So things might be a bit awkward. In conclusion....it's a no for me. I'm sorry
Author DanielStone
Mine was at 40, a midlife crisis thing. So, tell me about dermals. Just recently met someone who has one. Not a big fan of Dermals, myself. The best way I have ever heard someone explain it is 'It's like having a gem or rhinestone screwed into your skin' .. They put almost like a small bar with a screw hold type thing on it under neath your skin and the bit you put the screw in is every so slightly poking out the skin, then you put the piercing or 'Dermal' and screw it into place... I found a picture online thats probably going to help explain it a lot more! http://vanessatrujillopiercer.squarespace.com/storage/dermalanchorpic.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1339680334453
KungFuJoe
I had a ONS with a girl that had a tongue piercing. Kissing her was pretty bad...thing kept getting in the way. Worst part is that she wouldn't give me a BJ. I mean...just what is that thing for? Seriously...what is it for....cuz it was irritating.
